Good pickup, but I wonder if recruiting importance is trending downward. Why wait to see if some young kid who shines in high school can replicate that success in the big time, when the newly formed college free agency allows you to just poach proven talent from other schools? Smaller, less recognized, and less likely schools to win big on a national scale, will have their top developed players stolen every year. The rich will only get richer. No more ‘middle class’ for college football teams.
A couple things I really like about Darris is he is explosive off the ball for a kid of his length, but he comes off low and stays centered with good balance making him able to change directions fast for a tall long guy.
He wraps up well when he gets his hands on you. Not sure what his 40 time is but covers a lot of ground when in pursuit. He sheds blockers well while keeping his eye on the ball. I suspect Darris will at least be a 4 star next year and possibly 5, depending on development.
That's a big youngin! Welcome to the Dawg family, Mr. Smith. Can't wait to see this young man destroying offenses in 2022.
Christmas coming early! I love it. Obviously coaches feel like he has a high ceiling!
Welcome to Dawgnation! Congratulations to you and your family. We fans are glad you are a part of the family!
Great news. Go Dawgs!
