There couldn't have been a more appropriate title and picture, but I do take issue with a couple of things. For starters, these coaches choose to coach for a living...and they get paid more than well to do it. Nobody is making them coach any sport at any school. Secondly, what Kirby says about impacting the lives of these young men is true, but this is merely a byproduct. All of the benefits: the lessons learned, the friendships, work ethic, seeing things through, etc (and these are excellent, btw)...these are ancillary. This used to be the reason for playing sports, but at this level it's all about the bottom line.
You know there's a short list already drawn up to replace Lanning and Monken, because it's a matter of when, not if, we'll need to replace them.
I don't think any of us can blame Riley for what he took at USC.Have you heard what he's getting? Plus he can still win it all if he does well there. It's not like he went to NEbraska.
