so I’m puzzled… I thought UGA players had five days after the sugar bowl to enter the portal and then Beck enters 8 days later… not heart broken, but trying to understand the rules???
I agree completely. Beck wasn't committed to winning this year. This year was all about the $4Mil NIL and his draft status. He is taking another $4.4Mil from Miami and I expect about the same level of commitment. His NFL draft stock has dropped drastically and it is highly unlikely it will ever recover. His elbow is in all likelihood never going to be sound enough for an NFL franchise to take a chance on him in the draft. He will have to go the undrafted free agent route.
Well said, I agree 100% I don't think for one minute that Beck would have stayed around and complicate things for Gunner or himself for that matter. I think he proved how he felt about this team and teammates, coaches and this school by the way he worked at everything and sit and waited on his turn.
I personally have nothing but respect for the young man and wish him the best
After all these reports coming out now how he was disruptive in the locker room this past season, it's probably for the best.
Now to do something about our O-Line coach Off Cord.
Good luck to him. Maybe he can figure out why they chose the “U” instead of an “M” or “UM” for their emblem. It’s like John Belushi wearing a shirt that says “COLLEGE” on the front! Some of you youngsters may not get that one! LOL
GO DAWGS!
Bobo did not get him hurt, anymore than he caused the **** sack of Stockton in notre dame playoff game. If Todd Monken were still calling plays for our offense, the lack of execution by “PLAYERS” would have produced the EXACT result. I don’t know if our coaches missed on their talent assessments on current offensive line, if it was injuries to various players, lack of chemistry due to the shuffling due to injury, entitlement mentality due to 21 and 22 success, or some of all of the above, but our line play this year was mediocre. Nick Saban said it best many years ago - if our jimmies and joes are better than yours we are going to win, and our O line and receivers were not better than our opponents.
As for Beck - in my opinion, Beck did not handle “hitting the lotto” via NIL well at all. I saw trouble coming the day he took the keys of the Lamborghini, and his struts through DawgWalks, by himself, with cameras in front and behind, to I guess capture the Gucci suits, shoes, and Gucci duffel he was sporting was a “bad look”. I recognize that this may have been an NIL commitment, but I believe this was too much of a distraction on game day, and it struck me as divisive. I was reminded of the children’s story - The Emperor with no clothes! Frankly, I was a bit surprised that Kirby allied NIL activity like this on a game day.
Until the Tennessee game, when he finally pulled the ball down and trucked a defender, it just didn’t seem that he was emotionally invested in the team. There had been many opportunities, leading up to that game where he had the opportunity to run through somebody for a first down and continued to just take those awkward looking dives. It seemed Beck was trying to just throw the ball, avoid contact, and stay healthy for the draft. Football is not a game that can be played half hearted. Compare Becks play to that of someone like Riley Leonard. Do you think Leonard’s teammates ever wondered about whether Leonard had their back.
Personally, I am glad Beck is moving on. Our well paid coaches have to turn the page, decide what our offensive identity will be moving forward, and find the players that can make it work.
Do we have any insight as to why he transferred? It seems to me the most likely scenario is that when he floated his name for the draft, he got news that no one would draft him with the injury so he needed to find a way to show his abilities post Tommy Johns but it was clear that UGA had moved on to Gunner. That's my conjecture but I don't know if we have anything more definitive.
Beck stuck around and waited his turn to play, when he could've easily transferred somewhere else. He wanted to be here, and won us a lot of games. He's a DGD in my book. If he found it necessary to leave, that's his business to do so. Maybe he simply left to give Gunner his opportunity. All I know is I have nothing but respect for him, and wish him the very best going forward.
Good luck to Carson, the supporting cast will not be the same (could be better or worse) but wish you all the best.
My hope is Stockton can fill his shoes, or we find someone who can.
Yep, I think it's a win-win for both Teams. We won't play against him unless both teams make the playoffs (so not like a transfer to Bama or Texas or whatever) and he gets to be with his girlfriend and hopefully heal and get a better draft position. I'll consider him a DGD even if he's officially a Hurricane. We're happy with Stockton.
Who knows what might have been if Bobo hadn't gotten him hurt on that **** call. Almost lost Gunner to the same play calling.
He was a loyal Dawg. Best of luck to him. He's heading back home to Florida.
Thanks for your Georgia time, Carson. Hope the elbow heals great, and the better "style" fit in Miami Beach/UM versus Athens/UGA serves you well. Who knows, if you ball out next year, the Miami Dolphins could be an NFL landing spot. Go Dawgs!
Have a great season with Miami, Carson. UGA has long moved on with Gunner Stockton. Go Dawgs!!!
I’ll go along with almost everything you said, but I don’t want a close win….we need to beat the snot out of those Hurricanes!!! Go Dawgs!!!
Love of………..If someone would have come up with more bucks, he'd go there. Good luck Carson, thanks for all the work and success you brought to the Dawgs. We just move on, next man up.
True Love wins again….My wish would be for Carson to lead The Canes to an ACC Championship, Go in the first round of the 26 NFL draft and marry his sweetheart…..of course lose to The Dawgs in a close one for The National Championship.
