Didn't see that coming. Thought he would follow the trend of other elite Georgia boys and go play for Dabo.
Oh well, can't really blame him and the main thing is that... he's not going to Bama or Clemson. Especially Bama. No Bama.
Again, not surprised. TE at Georgia are glorified lineman, taking place of the fullback that we no longer used. Asked to lead the running back sometime inside and outside.
Hey congratulations young man. you earned the right to go pursue your dreams anyplace you like. Best of luck to you, until we see you in the sec championship game. Go dawgs!
There are several blue chip TEs that the Dawgs are in the hunt for and are better fits. Gilbert is going to be disappointed. Burrow is an outlier. Other than getting lucky with an OSU transfer, LSU has always been the place where QB careers go to die.
Georgia is the only top school that doesn’t care about having an elite passing game. That’s why we lost Hazelwood last year. Even Saban has adjusted to the times but not Kirby. We will continue to lose a game or two a year, minimum, because we can’t pass when we have to. We will also lose elite recruits like this one. I would love to be proven wrong but unfortunately don’t think it will happen. We will never be able to manhandle major defenses, I don’t care how talented our offensive line is. The best teams have talented defensive lines with depth. Look what happened with South Carolina. That will keep happening.
I have known for a bit that UGA would start losing 5-star recruits...lost two big ones. Until we start exploiting that TE or any wide receiver position..... most all of them will be going elsewhere. A real shame. Great for LSU, et al...not so much for the Dawgs. We'll manage.
Can't blame him and happy for him. That system will get him all the catches he could ever want. In ours, he would spend three years blocking and stopping throat slashes. We'll be fine with Darnell Washington and Theo Johnson. Go Dawgs!!
Surprised that he's going to LSU, but wow, they sure have turned into the flavor of the year! If he had to go to the SEC West, I sure do wish it had been to Texas A&M. I think if he had come to the Notre Dame game as originally planned, that crowd and everything might, MIGHT have swayed him in our favor. But the Florida/LSU game probably showed him how they use their receivers. Just goes to show that even though recruiting is supposed to be all about relationships, it's clearly more than that. We worked on this kid for more than 3 years and by his own family's admission, our coaches had the strongest bond with him. Yet he chose a school that wasn't really on anyone's radar and playing "close to home" turned out not to be all that important anyway. Oh well, nothing to do but move on. Go Dawgs!
Not surprised. I don't know if I would go to UGA if I was a tight end or receiver. Guys want to showcase their skills. There are consequences to playing a conservative vanilla run first style of offense.
LSU is a surprise but not that he didn't choose Georgia. Why would any TE choose Georgia the way they (don't) use that position.
