Predictably, people are complaining about the goal-line stop to end the half, acting like handing it off never works. (Not saying that's necessarily your point, but it does seem to be in the same vein) In reality, that was the first time this year - I believe, correct me if I'm wrong - that handing it off to the RB inside the 5 failed to result in a touchdown by either the 3rd or 4th down attempt. And of course, in the Arkansas game (I think) when Bennett went 0-3 on goal-to-go, there were complaints that we didn't just line up and run it in.
Don't we always say, when something works, keep doing it until the opponent shows they can stop it? Well, that's the approach Smart and Monken have taken with the goal line offense. At one point they tried mixing it up to see what they could get out of the passing game down there. When that didn't work, they went to a more tried and true approach, which worked several times. And the first time THAT didn't work, they changed things up again the next time around with a completion to a defensive lineman.
M&M's, McIntosh and Milton right now are showing why they should be carrying the rock more. If you can't get a push for one yard from the OL it's going to be a long suffering day. Bennet's is playing winning football, but it's a joke on you Coach Smart when you call on a 5" 10' QB to sneak through the line for a first down. I Know the press clippings state 5" 11' , but let's get real on that please. On the goal line play that was stopped, why not fake the hand-off to Zeus, but let Bennet circle out-side where he has a run-pass option. The TD pass to DL Carter was great. The other attemps need more work.
