Why would a top flight TE come to Georgia to have 15-20 receptions/year? This is painful to watch...
Well since it filtered out what I said, maybe instead of **** I’ll just say inhale sharply
Kirby’s silence on all these matters of recruiting misses seems odd to me. And all of this stuff with the offense **** seems odd he’s not addressing it directly, even is as fans could see problems, don’t y’all think Kirby knows???
The question that remains and is yet to be seen....
What is Kirby doing about all this bad news offensively and recruiting?
Btw, before we go passing to Matt landers and Tyler Simmons, please run hb dives all game!!!!! I’m sure they’re good boys, but I hope they are paying attention in class is all I’m saying.
Looks like Johnson wanted to go someplace that actually has a passing offense instead of a make believe one .
Lot of negativity out there. Like I said earlier we need some tweaks here and there, not a complete overhaul. Fromm thought we were close throughout the year. It just never came together for this offense, we couldn't find the complete package to put on the field.
If Fromm's a little more consistent, if the receivers would have caught the balls that were catchable, if the OL could have done a better job, if the OC could have found a scheme that was more effective. Hope they start getting it figured out, quickly.
The writing is on the wall, this program is imploding under Smart. If people thought the offense looked bad with all that 5 star talent just wait until that becomes 3 star talent. Kirby ain't the guy
Not surprising at all. If signing day had been the day after the Notre Dame game, we would have had both this kid and the Sewell kid who went to Oregon. Both were pumped after that. But as the season (and reality) wore on, the luster starting falling away from the Dawgs, especially on the offense. We rarely targeted our tight ends, even when we said we were. We rarely got the ball to James Cook, even when we said that we would. We rarely called creative passing plays, even when we said that we would. Jake Fromm rarely escaped the pocket, even when he said he would. My point is, that despite what we might have been TELLING kids on the recruiting trail, with their own eyes they could SEE that those things were not happening. So in their minds, they're thinking, "why would they change now? If they're not doing all they can to impress me at this point, you can best believe they won't do much to change after I get there."
Maybe 2020 UGA Commit Marcus Rosemy can be used as a TE....lolol. He is a receiver. Only 6'2" and 185.
I heard it over and over that Kirby's recruiting pitch when he first started was that Saban won't be coach forever (true or not)...well, now we have another coach in the SEC to worry about recruiting wise. Coach O was talking on ESPN yesterday that he had a full week of recruit visits.
This will be the story line for UGA receiver recruiting until changes are made to attract top talent.
So, from what I'm reading here, the Dawgs' offensive play calling is supposed to revolve around impressing recruits that may or may not commit regardless of the talent currently in that position group. With two middle of the road TEs we were supposed to give them at least 10 targets a game to impress recruits? With three SEC quality WRs one being injured most of the season and the other two freshmen, we were supposed to line up 5 wide to impress recruits? To hell with the running game with the best stable of backs in the country! We need to impress TEs and WRs that haven't played a down of college football! These comments make me appreciate Coley!
50 star athlete from Nevada? Knew Washington was an elite TE..but not that elite lol
Shortly after Kirby got hired, it was evident that the program emphasis was going to be on recruiting & rightly so. Getting our facilities on par, increasing our support staff, and hiring assts who are elite recruiters. The first 3 years of Kirby's tenure have been awesome from a recruiting standpoint but I am beginning to wonder if the shine is starting to wear off a bit. Pittman's departure certainly doesn't help. Perhaps I am overthinking this, but I believe Kirby needs to continue to rack up top 5 recruiting classes at the very least to maintain this recent success. By now, everyone can see there is a huge difference between the top 10 classes of old and a top 3 classes of recent. Let's hope we see some forthcoming good news on the recruiting front these next several weeks.
No brained. He will probably get more passes thrown his way in one game at PSU than he would’ve gotten in a season at UGA.
Why would he even consider coming to UGA since we don't hardly ever throw to the TE's? You can thank James Coley for losing this prospect!
BOBO 2020. hope its not too late!
Not surprising.
All season long I said we have to show potential recruits that they will be used...I don't blame him for going to Penn State as they have a history of using TEs.
