imageKentucky coach to fan about late TD vs. UGA: ‘**** question’

While trailing by more than three touchdowns with seven seconds left in Saturday’s loss to No. 1 UGA, Kentucky coach Mark Stoops opted to call a timeout rather than let the clock run out.

I don't see the problem with the drive or the late timeout.

Stoops decided to put everything into trying to get one score, rather than do the hurry-up and on-side kick strategy.

He knew if they tried to score quickly, the odds of getting anything positive out of it were remote. And it would likely just give the ball back to Georgia and they would likely put together a long clock eating drive. Kentucky likely wouldn't have gotten another offensive possession.

I think Stoops did the right thing for his team. If my team was in Kentucky's place, trying to elevate the program and finish 11-1 with the game already decided, I would want my Coach to do exactly the same thing.

Most of us could think of both reasonable reasons to call TO and reasonable reasons just to let time expire.

So terming the question ‘****’ is an overreaction.

Mild compared to a question asked of Stetson after the game.

He should have taken his whooping and gone home. We had just unintentionally injured a uk receiver a few plays earlier. Someone from either team could have gotten hurt on that play. Besides, I don’t think he scored anyway. His rear end was on the ground before the ball crossed the goal line.

UK is lucky the last several plays did not create injury, espically to a starting QB......it could have sent UK from a NY6 to the Blue Bonnet Bowl

Coach Smart says" it's about what we do not what they do". We didn't stop them, and that's on Coach Smart.

No problem doing what Stoops did. On the other hand the UGA defense's job was to stop the drive, but Kentucky kept the ball for over 11 minutes and scored the final TD of the game. The only thing UGA did right at the end was block the ensuing extra point.

The person that asked that was probably upset with the back door cover. I'm upset just because I'm pulling for this defense to be remembered among the all time greats, and every point they give up hurts, ha. There are some tough offenses coming up - UF, UT, and likely UA. If they somehow manage to keep the total points for the season (before the playoffs) below 100, that would be incredible. Probably wishful thinking on my part.
