The last time that Kirby Smart and Dan Lanning coached in a real game, they were on the same field together. The same can be said about their next time, too. We know now what time that game will take place, too.

"That will be the first game for the Bulldogs as reigning national champions after their 33-18 win at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indiana." This is probably not an accurate label. The "reigning" CFB Champions would have been the 2021-22 edition of the Bulldogs, in reality a different team from the one who will take the field in September 2022. There are some of the same players on the September 2022 team but many of the team players from 2021-22 have graduated and are gone. To imply that the 2022-23 edition is the "reigning" champion is not true. It may eventually be true if it completes the season and wins the 2022 playoff.

Ithe at least half true. UGA isn't losing much at all off the offensive side of the ball.

2 backs that were assumed to go to the NFL after the 2020 season returned for 2021 (White & Cook). They left this year,, instead. That being said,, the Dawgs retain the other 3 feature backs from 2020 & 2021...so, no biggie. In fact, they might be better for it, especially with the Freshman coming in from Mississippi.

The TE they lost, Fitzpatrick, was in reality, a 3rd stringer or co-second stringer. What they retained and aquired at that position, is nothing short of, phenomenal. So, no real loss there.

The WRs lost (Burton & Pickens) were not all that effective over the last 2 years, anyway. Pickens was injured off and on, which is not necessarily, his fault. I think he'll be an outstanding professional. Burton was average to above average, but, UGA's got a WR room full of those guys. So, no real loss there.

O-linemen lost (Salyer & Shaffer), 1 OT & 1 OG, were, for all intents and purposes replaced before the end of the season. Broderick Jones LT and Tate Ratledge (OG) suffered a season-ending injury in the 1st game. With those 2 guys, Mims, Truss and others in the interior...UGA is set on the offensive line. So, no big deal on those losses.

Yep...I'd say UGA is returning their entire offense. And, at least 2/3 of their defense had significant playing time last year. At least 3 of those guys are projected as possible 1st round Draft picks next year...Nolan Smith, Jalen Carter and Kelee Ringo. Watch for some more dark horses to enter the picture as well...just like last year. Last year, this time, the only guys people were talking about...Davis, Wyatt and Dean. That should put some people on notice.

You're right though. The 2022 Dawgs are not going to be the same version of the 2021 Dawgs...any more than the 2021 Dawgs were the same version as the 2020 Dawgs. UGA will have a mighty offense in 2022 and a very good defense. They could actually be better than last years "team"...by a long shot, if they enter the season healthy. Something they haven't done in a couple of years. I expect Monkin to unveil a new version of the Air-Raid offense he and Smart have been working on since early in 2020. It all comes together this year, with all the pieces in place.
