Re: Final grades from Georgia football season-ending defeat to Notre Dame
So, in games like this there are basically 2 scenarios: 1) You play so well that you could've beat anybody or 2) You beat yourself. We beat ourselves.
In addition to the sacks, Stockton was on the run and made some decent desperate attempts avoiding a sack. He wasn't able to run. THEY forced the ball out numerous times, we did not. We didn't have one INT. We were 2-12 on 3rd downs and 0-3 on 4th. We weren't prepared to play Notre Dame and we didn't play like a champion. We had no shot.
It's definitely time to "clean house" on the offensive coaching side. Bobo CAN call a great game, but it only seems like it's after a humiliating loss. He can't adapt on the fly. O Line HAS had great games but they've also had games where they were totally embarrassed. WRs have had the worst performance of any college football team. You think maybe we need someone new there?
So, I take a look at our WR coach and here is what Wikipedia says:
"Coley was hired by Mark Richt's replacement at Georgia, Kirby Smart, on January 3, 2016, to be the program's new wide receivers coach. On January 11, 2019, following the departure of former Georgia offensive coordinator Jim Chaney, he was promoted to offensive coordinator following the 2018 season.[6] After a season where the Bulldogs struggled to create explosive plays and ranked 61st in total offense, Coley was relieved of his coordinator duties and was given the title of assistant head coach."
The guy was so bad as an OC, he was demoted. We have NEVER had elite WRs. You think maybe it's time to treat him as an EMPLOYEE and not as a FRIEND?
Re: ‘Being Gunner Stockton’ not enough to win Sugar Bowl, will it be enough to keep starting job?
Agree Mike. Gunner played well enough for the Dawgs to win. However, the O line did not. Plus, the decision to “go two minute” with 39 seconds remaining in half, was not a good idea. Kirby defending that rings hollow. It costs us the game.
We need a new O line coach. We need smarter play calling on offense.
I like Gunner. He’s a competitor with guts. He’s a football player.
