Re: Report: Carson Beck injury status revealed, Georgia QB to get second opinion
I'm pretty excited for Gunner. Hate to see Beck hurt, but hopefully the doctors will get him taken care of. The good news about Gunner is that no one knows what he can do, which makes it harder to scheme. Perhaps more of a GT type offense. And it's not like they are reinventing the wheel, because he knows their current system. I'm more concerned with his backup. Two guys that aren't ready at this point.
Re: Georgia SEC Championship game win gives players a lot more than just rest: ‘I wanted this one bad’
Great game and happy for the guys and especially Etienne. What a work horse and to see his joy and listen to his words reminds me of how much fun college football is. Loved how he quoted Gabriel and had internalized that sentiment. He has become a DGD and now rest up for the next part of the journey. Go DAWGS!

I agree BigFan. To add to that, I’m tired of plays being called on third and three or four and throwing behind the line of scrimmage and leaving it to the receiver to hope he gets blocks and can pick up the needed yardage. Bobo, for Gods sake, please dial up plays that’s puts the throw past the sticks. We’re going to be playing the big boys from here on out. They can smell that play 20 yards away! Very proud of this team though! Hope my heart can make it through these playoffs! Go Dawgs!
Re: Report: Carson Beck injury status revealed, Georgia QB to get second opinion
A UCL injury very likely means Beck is out. Gunner looked very good on that first drive. After we got the lead, the play calling became way too conservative. Instead of letting Gunner do his thing, it seemed like Bobo (and maybe Kirby) didn’t trust Gunner. That conservative play calling almost cost us the game. Let Gunner throw it. He also gives us a real running threat at QB. If turned loose, Gunner will be fine. Don’t go ultra conservative like we did after the first drive of the second half against Texas.
Two first and goals from the 4 yard line got us two FGs. Why? Poor play calling. With Gunner’s athleticism, one might think rolling him out with a run-pass option could be a good idea.
Re: Report: Carson Beck injury status revealed, Georgia QB to get second opinion
I'm not sure why everyone is all concerned. I realize that QB is central to an offense, but lets face it: Saban would've put Stockton in there way earlier in the season just to experiment. Stockton brings a different element to the game and that certainly could be a good thing. I certainly liked what I saw so far.
People that are freaking out like we are starting a true Freshman. You understand that for the playoff game, Stockton will have been on campus for THREE YEARS, right? Nico and Manning are both a class ahead of him. In terms of actual gameplay, this is little different from what he'd see for Game #1 in September. Despite what Smart indicates, the next 3 weeks will absolutely different with him being #1 vs the past 2-3 years of being a backup behind an NFL draftable player.
He's already bringing another element with his running ability (sure, not maybe as fast and elusive as some, but definitely a guy who isn't scared to go head first) and outside of that bad interception had some really nice throws. Arian was catching balls, so maybe it's an easier pass to catch.
I hope Beck gets a good recovery and will be rooting for him to get drafted as high as possible, but there's little reason to be too concerned.
Re: Report: Carson Beck injury status revealed, Georgia QB to get second opinion
I distinctly remember one of Gunner's passes in the last game – – where he had time in the pocket to set his feet and read the field – – he threw an absolute rope to a fairly well covered receiver (who thankfully caught the ball). I have to admit I was at the same time a little surprised and relieved. So I believe he has the arm, legs, cognitive ability, and pocket presence to be a very good quarterback at the P5 level, and time with the 1s over the next three weeks will be huge. Go Dawgs!
