Re: Georgia football practice report: Colbie Young among those making his return
Good to see Colbie out there again. Remains to be seen if he's really back. He was, at the time of his injury, the team's leading receiver. Went down against Ole Miss on the flea flicker catch I think. He's a big target with decent speed and good route running. On his 38 yard TD catch against Bama earlier this year he made a quick inside move on the DB who bit on it and Colbie blew past him for an easy catch. Play him if he's ready…..

Re: Georgia football practice report: Colbie Young among those making his return
UGADad20 - I knew someone would mention the Alabama game when I said Young is the best receiver, but that interception is completely on Beck under throwing the ball so that Young doesn't have a chance to even fight for it. That doesn’t matter since it was one play in one game - the facts or stats in this case tell the story. Young is the second leading receiver on the team and he hasn’t played in two months. Obviously, Branch is the most explosive player but he needs space to operate, whereas Young uses his size to create space. I stand by he’s the best on the team.

Re: Regular Bowl Games | Watching Any? | Thoughts?
You're right of course.
I watched a bit of the LSU game (after the Missouri game ended) but found it rather uninteresting and lackadaisical. Besides that, it was getting late, so I went to bed, and missed the ending.
Hopefully you're wrong. Exactly what ESPN wants is beyond me, other than to control the world and make billions neither of which are likely to add much to college football.
Whether there are going to be any noteworthy and/or memorable non-playoff bowl games this season seems doubtful, but I hope I wrong there, too.
In many ways the playoffs súck the life out of the regular bowl games both for the players, teams, and fans. Is there a modicum of excitement about any regular bowl game?

Re: Georgia football practice report: Colbie Young among those making his return
It is cowardly to not address people directly.
Yes CYoung can help. He is a big body with experience. That is his value. He will not gain separation from good DB's. BUT he will shield off smaller DB's with his body and get position to allow short, chains moving catches. That seems like a nice thing to say. The reality of CYoung is that he is not going to scare anyone with his "speed" or adjust well to a long, down the field throw.
@87Dawg_11 "Colbie Young is the best receiver they’ve had the past two years". CY is a serviceable receiver. A guy who hasn't stayed healthy or out of trouble will never be anyone's "best" receiver. CY has 34 catches and 3 TD's in 12 games at UGA. You really want to stick w/your assessment?
"He’s the one receiver that attacks the football". Apparently you have forgotten the back shoulder throw from CBeck vs AL in '24 when CY watched as the AL DB intercepted the ball, in the endzone, ending UGA's hopes of a comeback win. He didn't "attack" the ball. He didn't even make an effort to catch or keep the DB from catching the ball. He will go for the ball but doesn't possess any extraordinary athleticism that allows him overly extend his catch radius.
@GoodOlDawg "I'm not following how Young's return to the lineup from an injury will impact Thomas' opportunities." To date they have played the same position (X) in the UGA O. They are rarely on the field together. So logically when one is in the other is out. CY will have value as a 3rd down short yardage receiver but the offense will not be as explosive with CY in the game and NT on the bench. Nowhere in my post did I say his return was a "liability". He is just not as capable of stretching the D or pulling off an explosive play as NT is. He will have a role if he is healthy. With the progress NT has made this year it seems like the UGA O is more dangerous with NT in the game over CY.
@randomsportsfan "Sorry but this is incorrect. Colbie Young has NFL talent. Things just haven't gone his way since he came to Athens." Oh this is my favorite one. I'll say things "haven't gone his way". That is the understatement of the year. Hurt last year then suspended from the team and then hurt most of this year. As for being an "NFL talent", I'm not sure I see it. He is a small TE with TE skills in a WR body. If he doesn't run a 4.6 or better 40 he is a NFL FA hoping to catch on with someone in training camp. Either way the odds of him being a productive player long term are a long shot unless he surprises EVERYONE with some speed. From what I have seen you could time his 40 on a sundial. Someone in the NFL will likely give him a tryout but his personal history is enough alone to keep him from getting drafted.

Re: Glenn Schumann pinpoints the real reasons for Georgiaâs defensive improvement
The more you play, the more confidence you gain, and the better you get?
If that's the case, every team's defense should have improved dramatically as the season progressed.
Why did Georgia's defense improve so much towards the end of the regular season when the defenses of most teams did not improve?

Re: Regular Bowl Games | Watching Any? | Thoughts?
Yeah this unacceptable product spells imminent doom for the conference championship games. Just like ESPN planned it, I'm sure. 16 or 24 team playoff, everyone else goes home.

I've never seen such a perfectly kicked onside kick be flubbed so ridiculously.

Re: Glenn Schumann recalls the moment he knew CJ Allen was going to be special for Georgia
Gotta love it. CJs attitude pretty much embodies and takes to the next level the mindset Kirby and his staff have instilled in this year's young squad. Win or lose on the road to the natty, this team has been an absolute joy to watch. Kudos to Shu and the other asst coaches, jobs well done.
