Re: Why SEC runs through Texas: Itâs not Kirby Smartâs coaching
Wait a minute!....Doesn't Texas play in Athens this year? I'd say, the keys to the SECC, still reside in Athens. You want em...you gotta take em.
This Burns character doesn't seem to know what the heck he's talking about. Or...he's just trying to make a splash by making an unpopular pick.
Texas is still the SEC Rookie, as far as UGA is concerned. The Dawgs put em in their corner, last year....and Burns has no business, trying to let em out, without earning it. Why give Texas a pass on last year's TWO LOSSES.
Lol.…Burns speaks with a forked tongue. Out of one side of his mouth, he says the train runs through Texas. Out of the other side of his mouth...UGA is the SEC Gold Standard...and the SEC is the CFB Gold Standard.
5th in the SEC!!??...C'mon...How in the world, do these wingnuts think Kirby will allow that kind of backsliding from his Dawgs.
If they think the quarterback position is gonna mean that much of a difference,...they've been drinking their own kool-aid and wallowing in their own hype, on that Manning kid.
Well.…I got news for em.…Stockton is every bit as good as Manning, with roughly, an equal amount of experience. The biggest difference there...is, Stockton's experience came mostly in the Post-Season...in a high stress environment...under less than ideal conditions [injuries].
As far as the effects of all the CFB/NCAA changes, over the last 5 years....I'm sure, CKS has been planning for this CFB metamorphosis, for a few years, now. I trust his plan. It involves hard work and hard coaching.
Imo...There are no shortcuts to greatness. Not even money can buy THAT....else, the Earth would be overrun with great people doing great things. Lol
Go get em Big Red....knock their horns off and wipe their ass...before you chow down on some Longhorn. Lol.
Man!!!! This is gonna be one helluva game. Duel in the dirt as well as the sky. No doubt, we'll know who the better Team & QB are at the end of this one. Defense & Special Teams, will be the difference. Now....who do you think will win, again...there Burnsy. Lol
Re: Why SEC runs through Texas: Itâs not Kirby Smartâs coaching
UGA takes care of business between the Hedges and goes undefeated at home highly likely they play for the SEC title. Bama and Texas have to come through Athens... The key will be the offensive line to establish the run game ..........
Re: Why SEC runs through Texas: Itâs not Kirby Smartâs coaching
👍...yep. Agree. There are a lot of keys to this game...and, Kirby's Heroes hold most of em. Including the Trophy for last year's SECCG. Lol.
Re: Georgia football âoverratedâ based on predicted SEC finish, per CBS Sports analyst
Bama fans thinking Ty Simpson is going to be their savior 💀 Do they not remember what happened when he played last year vs an FCS school. And Texas can have all the players/ experience in the world... they had them last year and what happened? Oh ya 0-2, 1 at their house. Kirby actually said that he likes the youngness on the team and thought they brought a fire/ exuberance that the last couple teams have missed. We've seen freshmans come in and run cfb for the last decade, that reasoning for pre rankings in these articles is lazy tbh. Put the ball on the field and let's get it.

Re: Georgia football âoverratedâ based on predicted SEC finish, per CBS Sports analyst
@David1 UGA has won a single postseason game since 2022, a very tepid overtime win in the 2024 SECCG played in what might as well be UGA's second home. (Seriously between the SECCG, Georgia Tech home games, kickoff classics and the Peach Bowl, UGA has always played at least 1 game in Atlanta in each year of Kirby's tenure, but in most years they play 2 and in 2017 they played 3.) And from a team that had 3 bad losses (double digits to Notre Dame, 10-3 Ole Miss and 9-4 Bama) UGA not only lost 13 draft picks but also Chaz Chambliss and 7500 yard 57 TD QB Carson Beck. So QB, RB, top 2 WRs, top 3 OLs, 3 of the 4 starting LBs, 2 DEs including the best pass rusher, both safeties gone from a team that lost 3 games by 2 scores, and the previous year had real issues when Brock Bowers and Ladd McConkey were hurt.
It is fine for UGA fans to have faith in Kirby Smart's recruiting and coaching. But that is not the media's job. The best argument for UGA not being in the top 2 in the SEC this year is that the contenders to knock them off - Alabama, Ole Miss, LSU, South Carolina, Florida, Tennessee - have even more deficiencies of their own to address.
Re: Georgia football âoverratedâ based on predicted SEC finish, per CBS Sports analyst
Folks, let's brush up on our arithmetic. Counting kickers, there are 24 starters on the team every year. So if we lost a total of six players to the NFL last year, that's about 25% of the starters, right? At least in theory, players have four years of playing time, right? So it looks to me like Smart and Company are managing their squad very well because they are turning over about 1/4 of their starters every year which allows managable turnover of players over time.

In the bud…

Re: Georgia football âoverratedâ based on predicted SEC finish, per CBS Sports analyst
@David1 I wholeheartedly agree, Kirby is on a mission this year. He is gonna cut some guys lose and we will finally see elements of that old defense we have been accustomed to.
Re: Why SEC runs through Texas: Itâs not Kirby Smartâs coaching
To those thinking all you need to do, is get the best players money can buy....I would say.…Buyer Beware. Top grade talent alone, does not equal maximum wins. Just ask USC & whatshisname. Lol
Imo...Talent and Athleticism are just part of the Championship equation. You've still gotta cross the "T's" and dot the "I's", with respect to Coaching, Character, Intelligence & Heart....not to mention the player's commitment to the game. I.e., does the player love the game, back.
Although, Texas and Oregon attempt to recruit, generally, the same player-type, with basically the same skill sets that UGA recruits. Neither, has managed to find the same success on Defense....cause Kirby's Heroes on the defensive side of the ball are coached up, bought-in and connected, from day-1. Or....they transfer out. Lol
Lol....I can't wait for some of these know-it-all pundits to have their anti-Bulldog prognostications broken off in their hindparts, this season. They never learn.
From my vantage point....this could be Kirby's best team ever. Offensively....as well as Defense & Special Teams. If I'm right....this will be a better football team, than either, the '21 or '22 version....mainly, because the offense is gonna be pretty close to the 2012 Bulldog Offense. Only, better. Much better!
Go get em Red! Sic' em.
