Re: Spring Training
speaking of mental toughness, Spencer Strider is going to need it in spades with his most recent injury. Are the Braves jinxed or what? I wonder if there is something about the way they prepare their pitchers that leads to so many injuries.
Re: David Pollack says âGeorgia has no chance to win a nattyâ if Gunner Stockton doesnât improve
that popcorn fart of an opening second half drive leads me to believe otherwise. If the offense chews up 6 minutes while scoring a TD the game is over. Defense can just go get Chambliss fully rested and get the ball back. Offense and defense could’ve helped each other out in that game.

Re: David Pollack says âGeorgia has no chance to win a nattyâ if Gunner Stockton doesnât improve
David is absolutely correct. We can't keep using screen passes and 5-10 yard dinks as our favorite offensive pass play. That ain't gonna cut the mustard if we want to contend further than we have the past 2 seasons. Remember, the competition is getting better all around, but so are the Dawgs. Gunner is going to have to improve the downfield ball and actually use it effectively. Kirby wants bigger, explosive plays, and he's been frustrated more than once on this subject.
Honestly, Pollack has been spot on over the last several years when it comes to the Dawgs. His comment about "I see a bunch of very good players, but not a lot of great" when it came to the Dawgs was correct. I'm still seeing that mostly when it comes to this team. But, it's the best "very good" group of players that we have had in several years, so like I said before, we need to take advantage of this opportunity.
Re: The âhardâ steps that must come next for Georgia basketball, Mike White
Wow you really don't get it do you? Now you are suggesting UGA get a $1M/yr coach to save money for other sports while still flirting with the Top 20? Really? You can't really think UGA continues to flirt w/Top 20 by having just anybody (nobody) as its CBB HC? You coulda had John Wooden himself coach that team and they hit their ceiling. The comments by the players themselves admitted that they didn't come in mentally ready to play and didn't elevate their effort and desire to match their tournament opponent. There are a handful of teams that are really good. And a bunch of teams that are good. UGA is not really good. No matter who is coaching.
Having an established coach allows UGA to do 2 things. First, it allows UGA to have a respectable basketball program. We have seen what other recent coaches have been able to do with the UGA bball program. There was a recent previous coach that was 0-18 ('21) in the SEC. The current coach can put together a team that can be competitive despite the limited financial commitment from the school. Second, it allows UGA to work behind the facade that it is trying to have a basketball program that can compete for a national championship. While in fact UGA is satisfied fielding a team that wins more than it loses while funneling all/most of its NIL money and facilities investment to the football program. UGA knows it is a football school and the fans care more about football. So it cuts corners on the basketball program. Fans put up with it. White is the scapegoat.
"for what it’s worth, that 9th seeded team that they lost by one had a few more 247 ranked players and P4 wins than that 9th seeded team with zero ranked players that blew out mediocre Mike"
For what it is worth your "point" just proved my point….AGAIN. FU lost with 3 All SEC players playing. Yup that is some mighty fine coaching right there. How many did UGA have? FU's shiny '25 trophy was won by the 3 '25 All SEC players PLUS 2 players now in the NBA. Those 2 future NBA players alone scored almost half (29/65) of the FU championship game points themselves. In fact, FU doesn't make the CBBCG without Walter Clayton hitting a last second shot vs UConn to stave off elimination in the 2nd Rd of the '25 tourn. Yup that is some mighty fine coaching right there. You remember Walter Clayton Jr right? Let me refresh your memory. He was named the 2025 NCAA Final Four Most Outstanding Player and a consensus first-team All-American.

Re: Isiah Canion already showing why Georgia made him a priority in the transfer portal
Bobo turning Gunner loose AND Gunner trusting the guys he’s throwing to. In That scenario there Will be some INTs along the way. Even the most elite QBs throw some INTs.
But it’s a risk vs reward deal. The rewards Can far out weigh the risks when the QB and WR/TE are on the same page. Gunner doesn’t want to hurt his team with INTs. I certainly appreciate that, but not scoring TDs will hurt the team especially in tight games.
And he’ll probably throw the occasional s t u p I d one to. It’s football it happens. But let er rip !! Take the risks. Now if the ball has Any possibility of being caught I want to see our WRs/TEs Fight for the ball !! Bobo has got to encourage Gunner All The More when he throws an INT. I honestly Believe in Gunner. He has the arm strength. He just needs to get his timing down. And I Believe he Can and Will !! Go Dawgs !!

Re: Isiah Canion already showing why Georgia made him a priority in the transfer portal
Gunner has shown the ability to get the ball downfield when he needs to. What he needs to improve is making off-schedule throws when the pocket breaks down. There were several times last year when he would come off his reads and tuck the ball and run instead of moving in the pocket and finding a receiver breaking open downfield. We can talk about play calls and making throws all day, but ask any defensive coordinator and they'll tell you that the toughest QBs to defend are those who can buy time and make the off-schedule throws even when they have the perfect defense called. As UGA fans, we experienced it against Ole Miss in the CFP last year.

Both Glavine and Smoltz had issues early on , it's a real testament to their mental toughness that they were able to work through that.
