Re: BREAKING: Peach State OT Kyson Mallard decommits from Georgia football
@David1 - Amen! Although I’m not sure anything can be done about the current mess college football is in. I’ve said it before, recruiting has been turned upside down by NIL. Just have recruits sign a contract with stiff penalties for breaching that contract by either side. Otherwise, schools have no idea who’s going to actually show up. Do away with signing day because even that’s meaningless with the current transfer rules, or the lack of any rules. Just have them or a legal guardian sign the contract. No more “committing.” Just hire ‘em. Once under contract, they’re less likely to breach if the penalties are significant enough. I’m thinking liquidated damages clauses and covenants not to compete clauses.
Yeah, I know the young folks will call this crazy. Well, it is crazy, but it’s less crazy than what is currently in place. In this environment where one’s word is absolutely meaningless for about a third of these kids, going the harsh legal route seems better imo.
Re: Jake Fromm reveals where Gunner Stockton can improve most before 2026 season
The lack of use from the TE room the past few years is head scratching . If you’re not going to be a deep threat it would make sense to use them . They are good enough to beat a single back . Obviously the OC is smarter than everyone else .
Re: Georgia outside linebacker Elo Modozie enters transfer portal
@VenomGA…don't let all this drive you crazy. Just wait until the dust settles, and we'll see where the Dawgs land. The college football world has changed, so we all just have to adapt or walk away from watching the games…which I will not do since I actually like the better matchups and increased parity/competition.
But, amateurism is done. Leaders spent decades clinging to an outdated ideal of amateurism.
The transformation is not going well. The athletes are paid (millions of dollars, in some cases), but they are not classified as employees, which creates an open question about whether contracts would even be enforceable. Athletes need to be classified as employees, allow collective bargaining, and enforceable contracts. Until we get to that point the transfer craziness will continue with little if any accountability.
