Re: Georgia Football Podcast: The Atlanta Falcons might finally be ready to draft UGA players
They passed on many, many great UGA players even when they were owned but Rankin Smith—A GEORGIA GRADUATE!!!
Re: I feel I must do this...
You still have to put in the work. 5-star QB is the least of my concerns. Gunner seems like exactly the type of QB that excels at the position. Scrappy guy who bleeds red and black…DJ, Murray, Fromm, and Stet. I think Smart's formula is to save his recruiting dollars on other positions instead of blowing it all on a 5-star QB.

Re: Georgia football WR room looks to have immediate upgrade at spring practice
Why have we ever waited until half the season is over to develope freshman WRs? I think it's been proven enough through cfb over the last decade+... that the freshman receivers coming in can easily become the best in cfb in their 1st year.
Win or lose, it will always be

Re: I feel I must do this...
it’s actually only one person longer. And I’m counting DJU and Ewers who will likely not go first round this year.

Re: Georgia football WR room looks to have immediate upgrade at spring practice
Great questions and comments on your part. I agree. Though I’ll be watching the players my Most critical eye will be on Coaches. In particular O Line and Receivers.
With the depth they have now these coaches Should be able to coach these kids up. If not to me it’s an utter fail on the coaches. We all know there are misses in talent evaluation in the recruiting process but they can’t be ALL bad !!
It is the total responsibility of Coaches to have these kids ready and prepared to play. Coaches need to do their job. If not then Kirby as HC needs to show them the door. The players take responsibility many times in public when They fail so the Coaches need to do the same.
Now in spite of the negative tone of my comments for Now I remain Hopeful to see significant improvement. I need to see the first few Real games to get a True sense of where the Dawgs are at in terms of improvement or lack of. Go Dawgs !!

Please don't. UGA kids deserve better than the Falcons. Seriously.
Re: Georgia football WR room looks to have immediate upgrade at spring practice
Dropped passes has ZERO to do with coaching. In fact a pass is not counted as "dropped" unless a receiver gets his hand or hands on the ball. So that lets the QB off the hook as well.
Yes CBeck did not have a good long ball. Not enough air under his long ball. But we have all seen ASmith and DBell drop passes right in their hands. Long and short.
ASSUMING guys are working with the Jugs machine and practicing, dropping passes boils down to 3 things. 1) concentration 2) "making a career decision" (DLovett comes to mind here) and 3) guys just don't have good hands. NONE of that is on coaching. DBell was a 3* in HS. He has similar size and speed of 5* Luther Burden. The difference? Burden was a more reliable receiver. ASmith was only a low 4* with all that speed. Why? Because he didn't have elite hands.
"we have NEVER really had WRs that shone as A GROUP." I disagree. UGA once had LMcC, JBurton, AMitchell and Bowers all on the same team. So there has been talent that performed in a WR by committee scheme. That is CKS's way to keep multiple guys happy. CKS has also "slow rolled" freshmen players to reward the older players that have worked hard and waited their turn.
In '24, guys who were WR3's were forced to be WR1. They just weren't at that level to reliably catch the ball consistently. We also saw some concentration and alligator arms situations.
Those guys are mostly gone. I hear Thomas was an inconsistent catcher last season at aTm. Branch was also an inconsistent catcher at USC. He is an unbelievable returner. Makes you wonder, with the depth of the room, if that should be his primary role and not risk injury playing too much slot. Never good to count on freshmen as big contributors.
UGA has a new group this year. We will find out about their hands, concentration and courage. But if you run a route, the QB puts the ball on you and you fail to catch it well that ain't coaching or QB'ing.
