Re: BREAKING: 5-star QB Jared Curtis announces his commitment to Vanderbilt
The kid wants Everyone to believe that he hadn’t told anybody and a decision hasn’t been made. But the media broke the story. I guess if the football gig doesn’t work out, he has a future in politics.
Re: BREAKING: 5-star QB Jared Curtis announces his commitment to Vanderbilt
It is not my coach’s job to recruit NFL players. It is his job to recruit and sign a winning college football team. It is his job to develop that team via the players. Being great in high school means jack at the college level, which also rotates to the same at the pro level.
Maybe Vandy has turned a corner. No way I believe that but who knows or cares? No one at Vandy taught Pavia anything. That kid, for all his arrogance, came in with the tools.
A bad decision for curtis, I believe, but a good result for us. It is a team sport and we build teams. I always hope the best for our players after they graduate from UGA but their pro career is not my goal or concern.
And that is one big a$$ tattoo on the high school kid.

Re: What Jared Curtis decision means for the future of the Georgia quarterback position
Yeah, he’s a Dore. As a Christian, I hate that this kid professes to be one also and then acts like his word is meaningless. A very poor witness for Christ. There was no need to play this dishonest game at the expense of his integrity.
But to answer the question in the headline: It means we will have one less drama queen on the roster.
Re: BREAKING: Georgia football commit Jarmaine Mitchell flips to Arizona State
@RedUga4Ever Oh you can sign plenty of 3 star linemen who will be willing to stick around and develop, but they are more likely to be in-state guys with relatives who played for or attended UGA. But UGA wanted this fellow to be their backup swing tackle right away. But there will be tons of guys in the transfer portal that Kirby can grab to play the same role. With 6 SEC schools - LSU, UF, Auburn, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Kentucky - changing head coaches this offseason, there will be plenty of guys for Kirby to make a play for. Bringing Sam Pittman back in some sort of "assistant head coach and co-offensive coordinator" role or doing the same with Mark Stoops from Kentucky would even put UGA in an ideal position to grab a few of them.
Re: BREAKING: Georgia football commit Jarmaine Mitchell flips to Arizona State
@UGA66 Please compare the depth charts at ASU to that at UGA. ASU's HC Kenny Dillingham appears to be using the "build through the portal" method as his entire starting OL is redshirt seniors. Behind them? A single redshirt junior - also portal - and 5 underclassmen, including 3 true or redshirt freshmen. This guy is guaranteed a starting job next year at ASU.
Meanwhile at UGA he, as a 3 star JUCO OT with only 2 years of availability, his future at UGA was going to be a rotation swing tackle - depth - in what won't be a pro-style offense so long as Gunner Stockton is the starting QB. Not the ideal situation for showing your wares to NFL scouts, or for developing the skills to stick on an NFL roster if you get onto one.
Re: BREAKING: 5-star QB Jared Curtis announces his commitment to Vanderbilt
Recruiting has always cost money. It harms a program when kids do as Curtis did, flipping at the last minute. College football is not going to survive without some changes. The pro model seems to be the way. Instead of “commitments” that mean nothing, go straight to contract signing. Put a large buyout in the contract. That is how it’s done for coaches. And build into every contract for coaches and players a set date (two weeks following the national championship?) where contract business can be begin and a set date when it must end prior to setting rosters. No more pretending the kids need to be protected—it’s all about the money and freedom. So the sport and its health needs to be protected. If they want the money, then take care of the business.
Re: BREAKING: 5-star QB Jared Curtis announces his commitment to Vanderbilt
Us expecting some punk kid still in high school to keep his word is what's most silly.
Lets name the dude that switched from Ga and it was a benefit to them...as it relates to their pro career…there ain't one
