Re: 3 takeaways from Georgiaâs 45-7 win over Marshall: Offensive questions linger
I see what both you and @BigDawg61 are saying. I think the over the middle passes will be coming pretty soon. Probably to Dillon Bell, Lawson Luckie, Delp, Cash Jones would be some of the guys I expect to see catching balls over the middle probably vs the Vols. I’ve got a feeling we’ll see more run, run, run with some short to intermediate passes in game 2.

Re: 3 takeaways from Georgiaâs 45-7 win over Marshall: Offensive questions linger
That’s honest and reasonable on your part. There’s most definitely work to be done and unfortunately time is not a friend now. But with the more vanilla than banana pudding game plan I thought they did pretty decent over all. I watched the game on TV and the program started with clips from the SECCG. Gunner dodged TX defenders for a very nice run. Then later a nice deep pass to Arian Smith. Gunner Does have the arm strength. If anything he needs to work on touch. But as far as ability to get the ball down field With Strength he has that.
I get annoyed with the tiny section of Dawgs fans wanting to fire Gunner before he even gets started good. To me that’s ridiculous . Now if he crumbles badly and HE puts the team in peril then yeah bring in Puglisi. I have Nothing at all against Pugs. But for now it should be Gunner’s job to keep as long as he does his job.

Re: 3 takeaways from Georgiaâs 45-7 win over Marshall: Offensive questions linger
We’ll see much more of the playbook vs the Vols. And I believe and hope we’ll see a more complete Dawgs team as far as quality especially on Offense. Dawgs will be amped up for that game !!

Re: Social media sounds off on Georgia football win, SEC standings and Carson Beck debut in Week 1
I’m happy for Beck and hope he and the Canes do well as long as it doesn’t negatively impact Georgia. He was a baller two seasons ago as a first year starter, and had the Dawgs not done their usual disappearing act against Alabama, they could’ve three-peated. And last year, lots of issues with that team and yes, I think Beck contributed. But, with Stockton’s help in the SECCG, they won the SEC against a team bent on revenge, *and* after an emotionally and physically exhausting game against Tech. Beck was QB1 all the way to the end of the first half against Texas. That SEC Championship was huge. It also conveniently kept the most or second most annoying fan base in college football (the other UT being the other one) from flapping their gums the entire offseason and then some that the SEC isn’t that big a deal… puh-leaze. If we think Texas fans are insufferable now, just imagine if they’d won the SEC last year. And their path to the SECC was *way* easier than Georgia’s.
So yeah, thanks to Carson for doing his part to make last year quite memorable, and I hope he does well this year and beyond.

Did anyone being reasonable honestly think that KS and Bobo were gonna throw the playbook wide open for Marshall ? Allow me to help, NO !! They ran about as vanilla as you could go with and Still tromped Marshall just as we expected.
Look for more of the same vs Austin Peay.
And be assured if We saw some issues they ( the coaches) saw them to. Game #1 and Game #2 are about Learning. STILL we’ve seen our Dawgs get off to Very slow starts in games like these in the past. That didn’t happen this time around they got off to a very fast start, though Yes they did slow down some about midway of the second qtr.
I would suggest wait till the game in Knoxville before trying to get a season reading. And even then it’s Very early to cheer To loud about success Or pull the fire alarm about the lack of success. Go Dawgs !!

Re: 3 takeaways from Georgiaâs 45-7 win over Marshall: Offensive questions linger
Per This Website DawgNation here’s what Kirby Smart the Head Coach had to say about Gunner after the game: “Proud of Gunner. Great leader, great competitor. Just does it the right way. Got us out of some negative plays. Had too many times that we could have been sacked, that he escaped. He took care of the ball well, made good decisions, made good reads on his pulls. Continues to distribute the ball and did a nice job.”
Any Dawgs fan that’s been watching and reading Dawgs football since Kirby became HC knows he’s slow to lavish out praise and only says what he means in that regard. Had he been disappointed with Gunner He Would Have Said So.
As he sees Gunner in practices as well as games and knows Far More than the average fan I’ll take Kirby’s assessment over any fan or media to for that matter.
It’s very obvious that Mr. CD Dawgs has something personal against Gunner as he comes on waaay to strong with the negativity on every comment he makes about Gunner. So maybe Gunner while in HS kicked CD’s HS azz or maybe he really did steal away his GF.
Either way I will defend Gunner And Puglisi and Any of our other QBs against such rash and overly harsh comments as best I can. If it gets me banned Oh Well. But there’s No Reason for a person calling themself a Dawgs fan to be That harsh on one of our players.
That goes far beyond the pale of merely being objective. If at some point Kirby does fire Gunner I’ll fully support Puglisi. But If or until then Gunner is the man and I support him. And I sure hope the majority of Dawgs nation will to. Go Dawgs !!

Re: 3 takeaways from Georgiaâs 45-7 win over Marshall: Offensive questions linger
Very good analysis of the game and situation @MikeGriffith . All wins are great and need celebrating and there was plenty to like about Saturday. The concerns noted are real and can hopefully be addressed - the most spot-on element was how clanky the offense looked. No rhythm at all and never seemed to really get into any sort of groove. Way too many 3rd and longs and then WAYYYYYY too many 4th down conversions that should've never gone to that level. Most are pointing out the run blocking and rightfully so, but the pass protection was shaky as well. Go back and watch the game and there are too many examples of rushers coming free up the gut and blockers just missing their assignments.
Defense looks very stout and the one thing that was evident Saturday by all other games - just about everyone (UT, Auburn, SC, Ole Miss, etc) has a very good running QB and for whatever reason, running QBs have wreaked havoc on the D so hopefully there will be packages ready for that.
On to the next game - Go DAWGS!

the way I remember it was Stetson relieved Dwan and then lost the job to injury suffered in the fu game. He didn’t get pulled before that. JT was so good he wasn’t giving the job back until he lost it to his own injury. Stetson and Gunner are an apples and oranges comparison experience wise.
