Look what I was able to get my hands on, all within the last week. Yes, I went a little hard on the Henry McKenna.
Really like Ryes - will keep an eye out for the Sazerac. At a similar price point, I enjoy High West Double Rye.
Thought about you guys on here when I saw this.
🤣🤣🤣👍😎!!!
Since it's a Kentucky game I figured I'd bring out the big gun. My contribution for a bourbon throw down here in town with a few other Dawgs. Too crazy how hard it is to get Stagg now. Had to drive 5 hours round trip to Moultrie to get this one. By the time I got there the price had doubled. Good thing I also had a few shotguns to sell. Small profit from those helped take a bit of the sting off. For those as nutz as I am this bottle is batch 22A.
Borrowed this from another forum I follow. Seemed a fitting reply :).
While I can't really comment on these premium bourbons, I can contribute this about bourbon and the Dawgs. When I was a student, for 2 years I had the best job at the stadium on game days. I worked the student gate which was great for 2 reasons. 1. That gate would close at kickoff, so I watched every game minus opening kickoff. 2. Many students were brazen about walking in with bottles of liquor. We took them away and placed them in large trash cans. Once the gate closed, the other gate workers and I would rifle through the cans and pick out our favorite bottle of bourbon. Mine was always George Dickel. Nothing like a free bottle of Dickel and a Dawgs game.
Jealous here.
Here's a shot of the 2023 Christmas bourbon haul. I hope all you fellow whiskey lovers here got some nice treats as well!!
Whoa! Very Impressive. JMO, but that Larceny Barrel Proof will give many of the high dollar bottles a run for the money. Course given a choice I'd still reach for that Stagg. My last bottle (Batch 22A) is dangerously low and at the price I had to shell out it will probably stay that way.
I still have some of the Larceny C922 batch as well and I am looking forward to cracking these two batches to compare. I was able to get the Taylor and the Knob Creek 12 at MSRP in a raffle, so that made up for how much the Stagg Jr and KC 18 cost me.
I watched Fred Minnick taste and rate his top100 whiskeys, live on Dec 22, and was excited to see that 3 of the bottes I had already bought or requested this year showed up really high in his final ratings. I have not seen the C923 from Larceny or Elijah Craig on shelves around me yet.
Got one I'd add to that list. Georgia's own 13th Colony Double Oaked. Not usually a big fan of doubled oaked bourbon but this ones a monster. Distillery's in of all places Americus GA which is where I was able to score a bottle. Not sure but I believe it's now only available through select sources. Well worth the shot price if you ever come across it.
My buddy won a good spot in the raffle and got a bottle of the 13th Colony double oaked. I’ve never seen it just sitting on the shelf, but i have seen the regular boyrbon and rye. I also like their ****, which goes for about $16 for a handle.
I have several bottles of bourbon; mostly for friends. I prefer Jack Daniels Single Barrel.
Old No. 7 and Diet Coke is still my game day beverage of choice. I am also a fan of the Jack Triple Mash for the post-game festivities.
Basil Hayden, Buffalo Trace, Weller. Take your pick over a cube of ice. Nothing finer in the land other than a 60 point spread over a top five ranked team. Go Dawgs.
