Wind is currently blowing straight out to center field. There were nine home runs hit in Florida State's win this afternoon vs. Florida Atlantic.
Seems hard to imagine anyone will have too much success vs. Tony Locey, but Mercer is known as a good hitting team -- including Kel Johnson, who has 22 HRs.
Funny story... UGA is hosting the Athens Regional, but doesn't get to act like the home team -- meaning no walk-up music for batters, etc. So the folks outside the stadium in what used to be Kudzu Hill are blasting music that's louder than what's coming through on PA. They're also going to play each player's song as he strolls to the plate. Pretty cool, right?
Tony Locey is starting for UGA. Diamond Dawgs coach Scott Stricklin described him earlier this week as someone who "pitches angry." I think that'll be a good demeanor for UGA tonight as a heavy favorite. Someone on the hill with a little edge to him is probably not a bad thing.
The light-hitting Bill Knight (.230 avg.) leads the game off with a single on a full count for Mercer.

Sun may have been an issue on that one. Time was briefly called after the hit for the left fielder to grab some shades, although Maxwell's double was to center.
