WATCH: Georgia football rivals discuss, target O-Line 'Great Wall'
Georgia football's 'Great Wall' offensive line is talked about my many, including opponents and top shelf recruits who want to be a part of it or run behind it
Comments
Let’s not pay ourselves on the back too much. Keep in mind that we lost 3 games last year
Keep choppin'! Go Dawgs!
I've said many times on this venue, a great OL makes ordinary backs look extremely good, good backs look great and great backs look like "generational talents". Now we have to infect the defensive side of the line of scrimmage with the "Great Wall" virus. GO DAWGS!!! Can't wait for August 31.
This is a terrific article because it points to perhaps the most important of Kirby's successes.
It would be too easy to say all teams praise the makeup of their opponents. Sure they do, but this is more than just that. This is a frank acknowledgement that our offensive line is big, fast, athletic, well coached, and formidable from the point of view of insiders willing to go on record.
It's hard to imagine a running back not wanting to play behind a line like Georgia has now. It's also hard to imagine a tight end not seeing how a line like ours opens possibilities for tight ends as ball catchers rather than auxiliary offensive tackles. A truly excellent, dominant offensive line makes everyone else's job a whole lot easier and more fun. Including guys trying to recruit athletes for every position on our football team.
The offensive line is THE key to the whole thing.
Of course, no game has been won, no first down has been achieved, nobody's done anything other than describe the potential, but at least the potential seems to have a whole lot of upside.
Go, Dawgs!
Jim Wallace: Agree! If I’m an elite running back, UGA would certainly have my attention. (Of course, I’m not and never was) Given the way Georgia recruits at running back, keeping backs fresh and hopefully limiting the wear and tear a back faces, running behind the linemen we are recruiting would be a no brainer. No doubt in my mind this is all in Kirby’s grand scheme of things. Go Dawgs!
