Wanna see some recent back surgery pics?
Go for it
Went in front and back.
My God that looks painful. Are you feeling alright?
Now my back and my foot is hurting! I'm outta here!!
So here's the dealio:
My foot isn't broken like I feared. I got a bone chip floating around inside my ankle, but the damage is primarily torn ligaments, of which I have three.
What surprised me is that evidently I broke my leg above my ankle about five years ago. Had no idea, thought it was just another blown out ankle.
Glad you got it checked out CTD. Hope you'll follow up as needed, and hope your insurance will cover it.
Thanks man. They said I don't really need surgery, so that's a dodged bullet. Just gotta get in and start on my PT
Don't skip the PT...I tore all of the ligaments in my right ankle almost 30 years ago, wore a cast for 6 weeks and then ignored the PT. I'm still paying for it today...
Good luck!
When I blew out my ankle 5 years ago (same one as I'm dealing with right now) I wore a boot for 6 weeks but I was pretty good about doing PT so I just gotta keep that mentality up. I can't really jog or jump or anything so that su.cks and I wanna fix it
As one gets older, mobility becomes more precious. Do what you can now to give yourself better odds of movement later on.
Somewhat OT: Do the schools tell kids why it is important to participate in sports, PT, etc.? I don't remember any teacher or coach giving an adult reason to take PT. I may have heard the expression, sound mind in a sound body, but even if so, it is not helpful (to me) in running laps or sprints in elementary school. I really only did this in HS to the extent I thought it beneficial for football or I was otherwise required to do them. Not making excuses, but a few words on the benefits of lifelong physical activity would have been helpful. I hope the schools are doing better with this now.
No they do not. Also don't emphasize how going out in nature every once in a while is good either.
I try to encourage my kids to take up an individual sport like biking, tennis, or swimming. I can see doing a few laps at 65, but who's gonna kick a soccer ball then?
As for mobility, I apparently ran around (skied, hiked ...) on a broken ankle for a few decades. Imaging back in the day wasn't always great. Finally got the thing fixed which gives me a great excuse to sit around and watch the SEC on Saturdays :)
