Not trying the field goal is exactly what many commenters have been saying of Smart's loser mindset: play not to lose rather than to win!!!! Good grief, he admitted it himself in so many words. He was scared of losing therefore not going for the win...and so....he loses!!! Could not have scripted it better. Unless he changes his game plan philosophy....UGA will continue to LOSE! Coley should be removed NOW! He is no good...period. Smart will also be let go, I believe, if he loses four games. No way is UGA a championship team under this guy. My opinion.

Coach, the team was at the line you said was worth a shot. YOU chose not let the most reliable kicker in America win the game outright. That’s on you.

Feel bad for Rodrigo, tough day for him. Keep on keeping on Hot Rod, no need to hang your head. Everyone has bad days, and things will get better..GoDAWGS!

The mistake was not kicking it on third down with 0:08 left. Go Dawgs!

Fans are ruthless. I've been a Georgia Bulldog fan for 45 seasons, and I've seen a lot. This lose was hard for all the reasons that have already been stated by the coaches, players, and fans. What defines a team is what they do after a loss. I'm confident that coach Smart, and this team are going to bounce back. The Bulldogs still have all the same goals available to them that they had before the South Carolina game. They're still in the driver seat. This was their mulligan.

Win out the rest of the season and they go to the SEC championship, win that, and the Bulldogs are playing for the national championship trophy. I think that's what will happen. That's what this feels like to me.

I was really disappointed in Kirby for not giving Hot Rod the chance from 60. Kirby is a Dawg and he knows the history on that field kicking 60 yarders against teams from South Carolina. He had the wind at his back with a home crowd, why not try? I realize that the earlier kick had been blocked but really, what are the chances they block 2 in one game?

Did Vince look at a chart before telling Kevin Butler to go out and beat Clemson with a 60 yrd boot? No, he placed his trust in his All-American kicker and he came through. Instead of giving Rod the opportunity to win the game, he only gave him the chance to lose it. Hate it for Rod.

It's up to the coaches to motivate the players, and it is up to the coaches to call the right plays, but we need some creativity in the play calling and we need a head coach who is not just a great recruiter but a good game manager and unfortunately they have failed miserably on both of these accounts.

Hey coach don't get me wrong You're a very intelligent young man. But you have a habit of coaching yourself out of some of these ballgames late in the game. That has to stop man. you need to take your hands off of the offense and let James Coley go to work because that showing yesterday was absolutely horrible but it's been building for a long time and you can't hide it anymore coach you got to fix this and you also got to fix your late game coaching antics . Do more Kirby

Not sure about anyone else, but unlike the headline, I have yet to hear why KS did not go for the game winning field goal. I hear that he chose not to, but when will someone press him for the reasons?

Dawgnation, I understand Kirby is the HC and that realistically the university has no intentions of letting him go (that would be CRAZY). But can you guys ask some prying questions for the fans? I feel like this keeps coaches accountable for decisions and thoughts as talking with the media is a part of the territory for them... I understand you may already know the response, but it doesn't hurt anything to ask.

For the fans.... let's not forget that Kirby is still a young Head Coach... he has some things that he definitely needs to improve on and his staff because their young also (my opinion). But if you compare him to the other guys that jumped in as a first time SEC Head Coach, which we can all agree that it is considerably different from any other league, he has done a tremendous job. The biggest question I want to know is how they handle things from here on out.... Sometimes you have to take a step back or maybe even a couple, to take a few steps forward. Take it from a person who has lost many to understand this experience and being able to build enough character to learn how to combat adversity; which the only way to learn how, is to learn how to lose.

May God be with the young leaders on this team to learn and to grow from this experience.

    Go DAWGS!
