ATLANTA — Georgia coach Kirby Smart noted the Bulldogs have had a “merry-go-round” of receivers this season, and it has come full circle. Senior Tyler Simmons, the team’s leading returning receiver entering the season, is back on top of the WR rotation and was the Game Ball performer in a 52-7 win at Georgia Tech.

UGA does have some depth in its WR chart. Simmons did play well against Tech. He is now playing along with Blaylock in first rotation against LSU unless that changes. I am just not certain who Smart will start. UGA has pulled off game after game banged up and conservative. That is of value with that schedule of teams.....LSU is a whole different adversary. You hear most saying they would like to see an Ohio State vs LSU king of the hill FCPCG. UGA has been ruled out by the majority...as being too inconsistent an opponent for LSU. May be. LSU virtually buried A&M. UGA did not. Cager and Pickens had provided the thrill of the receivers but Simmons and Blaylock have shown some real promise...even though Simmons has worn a hampering shoulder brace most of the season. But as they are saying now......UGA is" the little engine that could"......! GO DAWGS!

Simmons indeed had a great game. However, every catch he made was made with his body. That will not be something he will get away with against an elite secondary, like that found with LSU. All receivers need to go to the ball and catch with their hands first. Mark my words, if Simmons continues to try to catch the ball with his body in the SECCG, he will catch less than a third of the passes thrown to him and/or cause the ball to be intercepted.
