Arkansas announces Sam Pittman, Georgia football offensive line coach, as next head coach
Arkansas athletic director Hunter Yurachek announced on Sunday that Sam Pittman will be the next head coach of Arkansas. Pittman has been the offensive line coach at Georgia since 2016. Pittman has been well-regarded as one of the best position coaches in the country and one of the top recruiters on Georgia's staff.

Well ****...
Best of luck Coach Pittman, good to see you get a shot as a HC. No doubt the University of Arkansas, and it's fan base, are happy to see you return. Was hoping, the 1st coaching loss headline I'd see, contained the name Coley, and not Pittman..GoDAWGS!
Pittman is an excellent recruiter and has been a great line coach. I just don’t understand how we can have so many five star linemen and not have a dominant offensive line. I think it’s time to stop combo and zone blocking every play and maybe pull a guard or tackle every once in a while to mix up our scheme and to have better angles on a few of these great defensive linemen. Going man to man every run is not working
This is probably the only job he'd leave UGA for so it's not a surprise. Maybe this will be a spark to have Kirby change the offensive strategy away from the "ground and pound" to a more pro style scheme ala Bama and LSU. Saban did that style for years and it worked, but even he changed b/c he knew that is now the best way to win. Too bad Bobo went to South Carolina.
Yes Sir, the hits keep coming. I wonder if Broderick Jones and the other commits in the 2020 class follow him? Arkansas is were careers end. I wish we could find someone good to hang onto for a decade or longer (wishful thinking in the me era of society). The coaching carousel is fueled by the egos of all involved. Most coaches are better off being a second lieutenant.
Thank you for all your hard work during your time as an assistant Sam. Best of luck with that dumpster fire.
Well, that was quick. Good luck Coach Pittman and thanks for helping to radically upgrade the talent in the trenches for the Dawgs!
Happy for anyone who earns a big chance like this. Thanks for all the hard work and for bringing the big hogs to UGA. Best of luck to you coach! Yes SirRRRRRRRr
Now Kirby go get us a new OC and let the man do his job!
Good luck at Arkansas, Coach Pittman! Thanks for all you did for Georgia!
I have a feeling there is more to come. For this to happen tonight it must have been in the works for a while and he must have wanted out. The next 24-48 hours are going to be interesting.
He will be missed and will do well. Great coach and recruiter.
Nothing against Sam, but they were out of time and options
Hate to lose Pittman but congrats to him for getting a chance to be a HC in the SEC. Not too many of those jobs around. I am sure there will be no shortage of coaches who want to take his place on the GA staff. In Kirby we Trust. For all his experience as an assistant coach, we have to keep in mind that this is just his fourth year as a HC.
Good for Pitt! The Coaching Lotto doesn't hit but once for old, lifetime OL coaches. Hopefully, he has a huge buyout because in three years he will begin collecting his free money and will still be the best OL coach in the country. There's reasons an SEC school can't attract even b-list head coaching candidates. Arkansas is a terrible job in the middle of recruiting no man's land!
I don’t think it was that he wanted out as much as it was that he probably wanted head job, especially where he has a history at. I suspect there will be more that are hired away for head jobs or coordinators position. It comes with being a successful program.
