"For the first time since the 2017 National Signing Day, Georgia did not land a commitment from a 5-star prospect on a signing day"
In fairness, this is still unknown. Kelee Ringo is a 5-star DB, and he signed his paperwork yesterday. We won't know until later whether or not it was with UGA, but it seems that the experts believe that he did.
Yeah, we've been all in on the 5-star train before and we've been left waiting at the CFP altar the past two years. Maybe we can try the hard-working 3-star train and maybe those underachievers will take us to the top because maybe they want it more. Time will tell. Still hoping for Ringo, Washington, Jones and Van Pran, though. Just sayin.
FYI ---don't rule out Costello from Stanford....before he got hurt....he performed really well as their starting QB!!! They replaced him with 5-star recruit Mills for a couple games, then Costello started another game and got hurt again......and he entered the portal. Not sure about his injury status. He is a pro-style QB.
Put Ringo and Smith head to head for 40 meters.....pretty equal...on to 100 meters...Smith. Put them both against UGA freshman track phenom Matthew Boling......Boling.
Hats off to CKS and Hankton, Coley, whoever wrangled in this class of receivers. It was a GREAT haul all things considered. Even Rosemy new with the abysmal play against LSU that some would question whether or not he would stick with UGA. Thank goodness he did. "I'm Still ALL DAWG". That said, these guys though don't wait til the end of the season to check out passing numbers of the school they plan on attending and put a finger in the wind and see which way the wind is blowing. By the end of the season they have developed lasting relationships with other high school players thinking of signing with the same school and with sometimes 2-3 years of visiting school's camps and getting to know the coaches .
This years recruiting relationships were already established before anyone of them knew how poorly the passing game would go. It is perhaps next years recruits that will now take a wait and see approach to UGA (if they stick with the present offensive schemes or not) or perhaps just decide now to look in other directions.
One thing for sure, all the UGA recruits looked at the UGA roster and saw the play of the present squad this season and thought, "Hey, there is a great opportunity at UGA for immediate play,(that is if they can learn to block well enough). :)
