The hiring of Scott Cochran might hurt Nick Saban more than help Kirby Smart
When Kirby Smart first came to Georgia as the head coach, he badly wanted to bring famed Alabama strength coach Scott Cochran with him. Cochran has long been regarded as one of the best in the country at what he does and is beloved by players. But Alabama paid Cochran handsomely, making him the highest-paid strength

Gonna have to disagree with “It’s not like the Georgia coaching staff needed another excellent recruiter.” You can never, I repeat NEVER have too many excellent recruiters! I think a recruiter like Cochran may push several big name border line recruits our way! Go Dawgs!
Guy is MR. Motivation.
"It is fair to wonder what kind of effect this will have on the Crimson Tide program as well as what kind of gain he will bring to Georgia."
That is the biggest question. Look at how things have changed since Kirby Smart left Alabama for Georgia.
During the 2017-18 playoffs, Alabama had more 5-Star players than the rest of the playoff teams had combined.
Alabama had signed 7 straight No.1 recruiting classes in a row. Now, only 4 years later, Georgia has signed the No.1 class 2 out of the last 3 years and has all but closed the talent gap. That same year (2017) Alabama had the No.1 defense, with many of those players having signed to play for Kirby Smart. 2019 saw the Alabama defense drop to No. 21, and Georgia with the best defense in the SEC, and maybe all of CFB.
I remember how many Alabama fans were saying how Alabama wouldn't miss Smart, and how Georgia would regret the hire. Now, many are trying to downplay the Cochran to Georgia move as well. I do wonder what the effect will be?
Welcome to the Bulldawg Nation Coach Cochran!!!!
I look forward to seeing your energy on and off the field. There is no doubt in my mind you will be a tremendous recruiter for the Dawgs.
Cochran must have been born with a lucky clover up his backside! $600k to yell at the players to lift more and now a coaching position at THE UGA-without coaching experience? Wow.
This will be a big hire recruiting wise. Cochran has been around a lot of big name football players during his Alabama career. He knows what a football player looks like. Cochran and Kirby together? Business just picked up folks.
Power move, Kirby's serious and i love it. We want that big trophy.
I really like this hire!!
