imageOpinion: Hiring Scott Cochran is Kirby Smart's most aggressive move yet

Former Alabama strength and conditioning coach Scott Cochran’s departure to become special teams coach at Georgia is a move that’s nearly 60 years in the making. Paul “Bear” Bryant won the first of his six national championships at Alabama in 1961, and in doing so, Bryant became football king of a region that’s

Kirby left Alabama and change is coming with him!

UGA still only ranks No.6 in the SEC Facilities race, but that's also about to change. It's a shame that UGA let other Universities outpace them is so many important areas of the football program, but that is finally changing.

Hiring Scott Cochran sure has sent a shock-wave through the SEC. Way to go Kirby!

It will happen. UGA can and will beat Ala at some future date . However , it won’t be because we hired Cochran.

Love it. Go Dawgs! Great perspective on how Georgia has taken off while AL has languished. Nice article BA! And you say you are not a journalist (journalist!).

I agree with all of this except the part about the LED lights. They were neat during the Notre Dame game, but the novelty has kind of worn off, and the old-fashioned lights seemed to illuminate the field better. The LED lights kind of give everything a slight greenish tint, especially on TV.

I know UGA spent millions on the LED lights and they aren't going anywhere, but I miss the old lights.

I remember a quote from Coach Bryant about recruiting. There was no scholarship limit then and he said he gave scholarships to players he knew wouldn't see any playing time on Saturdays because they might be good enough to help some other team beat him. Another upside is that he got a lot of "late bloomers" that became stars. With that kind of attitude and budget, it's understandable that alabama won all those championships under Bryant.
