Hey folks - as a member of the DawgNation community, please remember to abide by simple rules of civil engagement with other members:
- Please no inappropriate usernames (remember that there may be youngsters in the room)
- Personal attacks on other community members are unacceptable, practice the good manners your mama taught you when engaging with fellow Dawg fans
- Use common sense and respect personal differences in the community: sexual and other inappropriate language or imagery, political rants and belittling the opinions of others will get your posts deleted and result in warnings and/ or banning from the forum
- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

Are they actually the bears now? I never saw anything official on that.
I thought it was. They also have that awful landshark mascot running around the field during games too. They seem to be a team with an identity crisis now. Like Auburn.
I think "predator" is creepy.
To Utah’s defense, the Jazz originated out of New Orleans & were moved to Utah. NOT to Utah’s defense; they could’ve changed the name.
One of my favorite names is the Toledo Mud Hens.
Alabama Crimson Tide has to be the worst. Oh really? A dark red colored ocean wave? How quaint.
The best name : the Dawgs
The worst : all of the XFL
That Okra looks pi*sed off.
Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels
@Savage Or is that kind of like, the bovine swine breeding? LOL
College football best: Akron Zips, TCU Horned Frogs, North Texas Mean Green, Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns, Coastal Carolina Chanticleers
College football, not best: Utah Utes, Rice Owls, Liberty Flames
Macon Bacon is way cool
If you are from that area, how about the Johnson Atom Smashers? I went to school in the area and thought that was the strangest mascot ever.
the mascot is offensive to African Americans
A few offbeat/strange names to note:
Oglethorpe University (in Atlanta) Stormy Petrels
North Texas State Mean Green
Tulane Green Wave
Stanford Cardinal (not cardinals as many say/think)
Penn St. Nittany Lions (after all these years, I still don't know what a 'nittany' is)
Fun Trivia Question (at a party, at a game, in a forum!): What college sports team nicknames do NOT end in "s" and DO NOT have a color in their name? (so "Tulane Green Wave" doesn't count).
Back in the 1980s, I remember a similar question, though there are more than 3 now. Of all the major pro sports teams (NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL) - what are the only 3 team mascot names that do not end in "s"?
I'll give the answers later, if no one else posts them.
