It was going to be a chance to showcase the 2020 Georgia team, as well as be a day to celebrate and show off all that the Georgia football program had to offer. Unfortunately, not much can be said for this. I appreciate the effort. It's tempting to whine and say "why can't they just do the game televised and without an audience", but when you consider the size of the full team, staff, cameramen and all support personnel for the stadium, etc and multiply that times every college football program in America and the risk just can't be justified. Imagine a whole team being exposed to the virus.
When you say "the original," do you mean the Jan. 1, 1980 Sugar Bowl matchup, or the Sept. 9, 2017 regular season tilt in South Bend? I attended all three and each, in their own way, was a classic. The first netted us a National Championship. The second catapulted us to what can only be described as a "magical" season, and the third brought an unprecedented energy and enthusiasm to Sanford Stadium and the entire UGA and Athens community. All three games were great. I'd take a fourth anytime, anywhere. Go Dawgs!
