imageWhy aggressiveness, not athleticism, could mark the most important difference between Jamie Newman and Jake Fromm

In Deshaun Watson's final season at Clemson he threw 17 interceptions. That's more than one per game. That's one less than Jake Fromm threw in his entire Georgia career. And yet, Watson also threw 41 touchdowns in that 2016 season. He did so while leading Clemson to its first national title under Dabo Swinney. Some

Aggressiveness is potentially a positive attribute, but another factor will be whether Georgia's scheme allows for those higher risk-reward plays even after we have a lead. If we revert to ground ground and pound once we're ahead, it could let other teams back in the game. Kirby will have to turn over a bit of a new leaf to make that adjustment.

Bottom line is the Newman gives our offense more options and more potential headaches for a defense. Fromm was pretty predictable and fairly easy to defend. He managed the game well but was more risk averse and that only gets you so far. We'll see how comfortable Kirby is with Newman (assuming he gets the starting job) playing with more aggressiveness.

And the way Dabo and Kirby coach is completely different so comparing Fromm with Watson is comparing apples and oranges in not only style but ability, execution, and what each guy is allowed to do in their offense.

"But Georgia is going to need to be more aggressive on the offensive side of the ball. And Newman may be better suited to take those risky shots than Fromm was." Newman is more RPO style...Monken style. And is more physical. He can run the option very well as we have seen from previous videos. Fromm fit the previous offensive strategy....Newman will introduce the new Monken more aerial attack. I like that UGA will be more versatile. Not so predictable. Look forward to the new season. GO DAWGS!!!

If the only reliable SEC quality receiver is Pickens, Newman will have the same problem as Fromm last year. There is being aggressive, then there's being dumb.

It isn't Monken who will determine if UGA goes to a more aggressive offense, but Smart the Head Honcho. I'm afraid if Newman starts averaging at least one interception per game, then he won't be the starter very long.

If the new receivers coming in can stay reasonably healthy(see Jamie Burton) then this offense is going to roll. Talent out the **** coming in, something we haven't had in a while. Scoring 30 points per game and finishing middle of the pack in scoring avg. should be a thing of the past. Look for the defense to give the offense a lot of short fields. It takes scoring 40+ points a game these days to win the Natty. Go Dawgs!
