I’m surprised many people expected Grimes and/or Turner would commit to the “G”. The 247 Crystal Ball had 14 out of 14 predictions for Grimes going to N.C. and the same poll had 11 out of 12 predictions indicating Turner would go to Bama. But, Jeff’s article is addressing the issue of the “lack of campus visits affecting recruiting” so it is possible we would have had a shot at Grimes or Turner.......even though they were still long shots.

I appreciate the positive spin on this issue but the truth is that this virus hurt our chances. UGA is currently the number one recruiting conglomerate in all of D1 Football. Anything that impedes our doing what we do best can only hurt us. Not to mention, Athens is one of the best college towns in the nation and our campus is high on the list too. The more visits an impressionable recruit has to the classic city the better our chances of landing him. Period. This pandemic and the accompanying restrictions help second tier teams only. If the cream isn't given a chance to rise, it all tends to look the same.
