Georgia on a 6-0 run to start the second half, with Maten and Frazier combining for three baskets. Just what they needed to start the half, now they have to close out on Texas' 3-point shooters.

Texas is about to go on an 8-0 run.

I know I'm harping on Frazier, but you can hopefully see the importance, and the correlation between his scoring and the team's performance: After not hitting a single field goal in the first half, he had three field goals in the first four-plus minutes of the second half. Georgia is back within one.

Texas is in a bit of foul trouble now, with three different players with three fouls. Two are starters. And Mark Fox can't really complain about the calls so far in this one: Georgia has shot way more free throws than Texas.

Jordan Harris with Georgia's first 3 of the game, and it gives Georgia its first lead since it was 8-7. Crowd comes to its feet.

So much for Georgia's lead. After that Harris 3, the Bulldogs haven't scored on three straight possessions and the Longhorns have moved back ahead by 3.

Maten and Freazier are doing their part now, they're just not getting help There's a black hole of scoring at the center spot between Mike Edwards and Derek Ogbeide. And Juwan Parker still can't score from the floor.

Wait ... Jordan Harris just made a 3 to tie it. Never mind all that.

Let's see if this sequence ends up being important:

Georgia was holding a 2-point lead when Houston Kessler grabbed a loose ball down low, but didn’t realize he was open and passed out. Ogbeide then picked up his foruth foul on a screen.

On the other end, Georgia’s Mike Edwards couldn’t box out and Texas’ Jarrett Allen got an offensive rebound and put-back, while Edwards was called for fouling him. Allen's going to the line after the under-8 media timeout.

All right, another big sequence: Frazier hits a jumper while being fouled, and makes the free throw to give Georgia back a 2-point lead. Then Texas fails to score, and another foul sends Maten to the line, where he hits both and Georgia holds its biggest lead of the game - 4.

Texas also now has two players with four fouls.

And Parker is fouled making his first field goal of the game, a layup off a nice pass by Maten.

Georgia has taken control with 6:09 left.

Georgia leads by 5 with 3:14 left, and Texas headed to the line after the final media timeout.

Too many shots early in the shot clock, in my opinion. Maten just tried a 3 on the break and Frazier tried a long 2. That was a chance to add to the lead and wind the clock down, and the Bulldogs didn't do ti.

We shall see. It's. Not like they can't lose in the last 2 minutes.

  • sethemersonsethemerson Posts: 686 ✭✭✭✭ Senior

Juwan Parker has hit a couple bit baseline jumpers here, the latest one from about 17 feet to put Georgia back up by four with 1:33 left. If it hadn't rolled in, Texas would've had a chance to tie or take the lead on the next possession.

  • sethemersonsethemerson Posts: 686 ✭✭✭✭ Senior

Texas' Andrew Jones is left wide open and sinks a 3, and it's a one-point game with 1:12 left.

Georgia hasn't been able to get a stop on the last few possessions. Let's see if costs the Bulldogs.

    Drama, drama, drama.

Maten with the layup against three post players. Eric Davis Jr. 1-for-2 from the line, making it 59-57.

Then Frazier, surrounded by the trap, called timeout with 21.1 seconds left. Let's see if Georgia can get a good shot or draw a foul. The Bulldogs are out of timeouts.

Derek Ogbeide grabs Frazier's airball and puts it in ... but did he beat the shot clock? Officials are reviewing. These haven't gone well for the Bulldogs.
