It's been a pretty busy week for Georgia football, as that tends to be the case when your presumed starting quarterback opts out just over three weeks before the start of the 2020 season. Jamie Newman made his announcement to opt-out on Wednesday, just days after the Bulldogs held their first scrimmage. Newman stated

Pollack, a UGA alumnus supporter, did not like Newman's exit....he quickly reverted to Bama/Clemson championship again. One might have to agree. Newman was healthy and had solid college experience with good numbers...until he too was injured. Now we look to injured and brace-wearing JT Daniels...still not cleared much less healed. So, D'Wan it is. I can see D'Wan next year...but starting this year will be very interesting.

PS - If JT disses the brace and takes the rough and tumble in stride at scrimmage 2....he will most likely get the job.

Newman probably realized he had some real competition and wasn't going to be 'anointed' as the starter. Can't blame him for leaving if he thought he might end up riding the bench or platooning. That would've really damaged his draft stock. He was never a typical red-and-black bleeding UGA recruit. He came to UGA as a one-and-done to increase his draft stock. He's probably leaving to maintain it. I would've done the same.

He probably felt his draft stock would tank if JT beat him out so he would rather take getting picked in round 3-5 vs UFA. I am sure his Agent had much to do about it...figured he wasn't going to make any money if he doesn't get drafted so go for the sure thing.

He has opted out. So lets move on he has. As for Fields Lets stop asking if he might come back. I mean he left because a racial comments that he didn't hear but others said they did. Why would he want to come back to that. And more importantly why would Ga want him back
