Jeremy Pruitt says Tennessee transfer plea 'not just about Cade (Mays)'
ATHENS — Jeremy Pruitt said he understands the NCAA and SEC transfer rules — players typically are required to sit out a season — and why the rules were voted into place. But the Tennessee head coach said exceptions should be made this year on account of the COVID-19 pandemic. "This is not just about Cade (Mays),"

Everyone, including Pruitt and the lawyers, know exactly that it's really all about Cade's daddy desparately wanting his son to play for UT. The Covid or 'toxic environment' narrative is just a BS deflection from the truth so they can get it done.
Pruitt.....this is total malarkey. It has absolutely nothing to do with Covid and everything to do with Cade’s father not receiving a “folding chair” orientation during his son’s recruiting visit. Good grief. Go Dawgs!!!
Well which issue is the cause of the transfer? The artificial toxic environment created by Cade's father's nuisance lawsuit or COVID-19, which came along AFTER the transfer request.
What is this....throw out every argument in the book and see what sticks with the NCAA and from a PR angle?!
It's the position coaching leaving..... Cade needs to help his Daddy in Knoxville.... It's the lawsuit... It's Georgia's toxic environment.... Now, it's not fair because of COVID....
Mays family got their panties in a twist because UGA did not recruit younger brother Cooper, and they decided to bring older brother back to Knoxville because of it. Fine, but go ahead and put that TRUTH on your application for waiver, and accept what you get. Quit spinning BS stories to get 6 different bites at the apple when you know what the rules are beforehand.
Kiffin and Pruitt both put forth pretty weak arguments.
Mays transferred in early January. Obviously it had nothing whatsoever to do with the pandemic.
And while it's true that players who are transferring and have to sit won't get an EXTRA year to play, that could hardly be described as "really screwing" those players, as Kiffin put it. They're still going into 2021 with the same amount of eligibility that they were expecting to have when they transferred.
They just didn't get the bonus season that they could have gotten if they stayed with their original team. Just as in any other year, there should be an argument as to why the disincentive should not apply to any given player; simply pointing out that the disincentive exists is not an argument.
I don’t understand the issues here. Cade won’t lose a year of eligibility so he can skip the NFL draft next spring (and lose tons of $$$) and still play for his beloved Vols next Fall. Also, in the meantime he can complete his degree and work on a masters....all at the expense of UT both financially and wasting a scholarship. Don’t you love karma?!?!
Go Dawgs!!!
Pruitt, Mays family, and UT fans, cry me a Tennessee River..GoDAWGS!
Any man who loses (only) part of his pinky finger, and totally due to his own fault and then sues the school for $3 million that did so much for his son is a low class individual.
Cade's father caused his sons situation. Why should they now be rewarded? They shouldn't.
Let's be real here, Pruitt needs Mayes, Jr. to have a better shot at a mediocre season, Mayes, Jrm needs to play football to be able to skate by his classes and Mayes, Sr. was **** enough to think UGA was going to pay him 7 figures for losing part of a digit. Pruitt I can understand, he's desperate, Mayes, Jr. lacks a pair of stones and scruples, but blood is blood, even if it's obviously been mixed with sewage, so I can deal with that, but Mayes, Sr., what an absolute rectal jester that piece of work is, so I hope the NCAA doesn't condone this scam by granting eligibility. Frankly, the Clarke County DA ought to be investigating that buffoon and his lawyer for extortion, sure sounds like it to me.
I'm not sure who the biggest clown is, Pruitt, Kiffin, the lawyer, or Mays Sr., what a circus. They can all read, the rules book clearly states.....
Kevin Mays: After all the hard work you did in knoxville, the accolades you earned and the stature you built which led to a very successful business career, how could you be so selfish as to put your first born child in this NO WIN situation? Parents with far fewer resources will always try to set their children up for success, no matter the sacrifice. To you and others, this has nothing to do with Cade. This is about YOU Mr. Mays and nothing else. Sorry for what you did to your son.
Had Cade, or his lawyer, not thrown UGA, a team and fan base that welcomed him with open arms, under the bus, I'd not care. But, he did, and I hope he never plays for Tennessee, for if he sits out a year, he will most likely go pro. It is delicious to see both him and Fields squirm because neither play this year, and both will most likely move on. What would leave an even better taste is if we win a Natty after neither played this year. Call it divine justice, or karma, but I so love what is unfolding.
