Yeah I have YouTube TV and love it. My whole family are converts as well. It’s great for sports channels and the unlimited DVR is great.
We’ve tried AT&T Now, Hulu, YouTube, and Sling and we’re going to go with YouTube. Had AT&T back when it was directv for a year and liked it a lot but they keep jacking the price up. Didn’t like that I could only have 1 stream going from the orange package on Sling as I sometimes watch the Dawgs on the TV and another game on my laptop. Didn’t like the interface from Hulu as it was just awkward to me. YouTube has the unlimited DVR and was easy to learn how to use, and was competitively priced so that’s the winner for me.
Concur. YouTube tv. Just got it after Thanksgiving and it has everything for football season. Miss the weather channel and History but I guess my phone tells me the weather and I can just read a book or something to compensate the other
I tried it. It lacked some games I wanted to watch (college football games). I switched to Hulu, the live version without (many) commercials (live shows have them of course).
There are loads of options. I have most of the better ones and still save money compared with the cable. None of the options are perfect in my experience. Hulu, for example, won't let me share my account with my daughter in college. They require a separate subscription for her; good luck on that, Hulu. Netflix allows me to share with her.
I'll switch in a heartbeat to a better service. Competition should create one, and I think it will.
Go, Dawgs!
Thanks all - overwhelming consensus seemed to be YouTubeTV which I’ve been experimenting with via free trial. Paired up with the new gen AppleTV and I’m really pleased so far.
Lots of tvs have PIP capability but I found the challenge was actually making use of it because of the inputs required in the cable/satellite box. Streaming really makes it a breeze to toggle between up to 4 live games on my projector. This pretty much sold me.
What kind of projector do you have?
Not sure if it’s been asked but does YouTube tv offer channels like tbs and tvland?
You can check out all the different channels the various services offer here:
In this case they do offer TBS but not TV land
Epson 2045. The new Apple TV 4K was just $20 more than the 1080p so I won't have to upgrade if/when I move to a 4K projector.
You have a projector too?
Out of curiosity, what channels or games were unavailable to you on YouTube tv when you tried it? I've been pretty surprised at all the channels available for college sports and sports in general but could be something I'm not thinking of
I don’t but we’re going to be doing an addition and I’ll have a man cave. Want one but not sure what to get and don’t think a 4K one is in the budget right now. How do you like it?
I was unable to get a number of games until a few days after they'd been played. Like maybe Tuesday night after a Saturday game. As I recall the games I wanted to watch from Texas and that area and from the West coast were not available live. Not saying all weren't available but some weren't.
Apparently the various services don't all have contracts with all the conferences for live broadcasts.
Go, Dawgs!
I was so confused to click on this thread and see @levander's OP. Then I saw the date... 😮
SAME, I also thought Dr. levander was mocking my tendency to cut.
I thought levander had come back from the dead. RIP.
I kinda miss him and all his drunk alt accounts
Now that I checked his posts it looks to me like he disappeared from the board suddenly and unceremoniously, without a ban or any conflict. Last post he said he would be back. Makes you wonder WTH happened
A really inappropriate joke just flashed in my head. But I will keep it to myself.
Bad, wicked, naughty Zoot!
I used SlingTV before and now switched to Hulu with live TV. It’s so much better I get all the SEC games and local channels. Plus the picture is way better than Sling. Free 50 hour DVR. Plus it has all the Fox sports south channels. I know Sling got rid of that a year or so ago.
"I'll be back later tonight, gonna be a busy day (first I gotta stop by WC's house, he invited me over for free candy YAY)"
