The Atlanta Falcons play their home games approximately 70 miles from Georgia's campus. Given that proximity, there's always interest in which UGA players could be on the Falcons' radar when the NFL draft approaches. Sometimes that curiosity also extends to players who were only briefly with the Bulldogs. This year's

BA, I for one hope the Falcons draft Fields. If he can play QB in the NFL, he’d bring the fans back and revitalize the franchise. Nothing better than a hometown hero!

Haha, you said "Falcons" and "UGA" in the same sentence. The Falcons could've easily picked up Fromm for 'a song' last year, but no.

The last Georgia player they chose was in 2011 at the 3rd round. 64 picks ago. 64 players not from UGA.

Just think about this. Every round, every year, Georgia has had lots of players available and "no thanks".

You know when the last time the Falcons chose a player from UGA in the 1st round? I sure don't. The site I'm looking at ONLY goes back to 1960. 60 years. Zero Georgia First Round picks.

But, whatever. Why pick anybody that the fans would want? It's why I actually watched the AAF with Atlanta and Aaron Murray. I watched more of those games than any professional team.

Last I checked, the South loved College Football: the Yanks up north (I was born in PA) like their Steelers and Giants and Packers. We (again, not really a true southerner, but...) love our Dawgs.

I hear what you're saying, but new HC, new GM, who knows?

Personally, I'm conflicted on the whole Fields idea. I hate the way he and his people left things with Georgia, but I also hate THAT he left Georgia. I imagine many feel this way. Honestly, I think I'd relish a renewed opportunity to put it all in the rear view and root for him in a local red and black uniform.

Move down and get DEFENSE. I am not sold on Fields, although he may turn out to be a hall of fame player. He also might not be able to handle NFL defenses, make all the reads he needs to make. I think it will take him a couple of years at least before he adjusts and we know what he is going to be. Which may work well for the Falcons to have him in waiting. BUT, I say screw that and get a PASS RUSH TO GO WITH JARRETT. PLEASE?! ... OR THE BEST CB IN THE DRAFT AND LETS WIN NOW WITH RYAN....instead of not making the team better now by drafting Fields. Fields comes with risk. I have watched him. He is not ready. So can we just get the best pass rusher in the draft? Or move down and get a few more players on defense for NOW? Please? Pass rush has been anemic, except for fluke year by Beasley, since Abraham...We need to take the best pass rusher or move down and take the best pass rusher and CB available. Don't move down too far though....that is my 2 cents after watching the Falcons for 45 years

And one more thing, Falcons do not need Fields or any UGA player to put butts in the seats, unless they ****. Just WIN and they will come.
