Mark Richt returns 'back home' to UGA, buying house in Athens
What’s that saying? You can leave Athens, but Athens will never leave you. Mark Richt, who coached UGA’s football team for 15 seasons, revealed on Twitter that he has officially returned to Athens by purchasing a house in the area. “It’s good to be back home near family,” Richt tweeted. Since Richt retired at Miami

Welcome back Coach Richt!
I believe Jim Donnan still lives in Athens, as well. There is something special about the Classic city.
My biggest regret is not staying in Athens after I graduated from UGA.
Welcome home, Coach!
Welcome home Coach Richt! No place like Athens, going on 60 years here in the Classic City for me.
A great addition to Athens!!.
Richt is a DGD! It's very clear he loves Georgia. Welcome back coach!
Athens is God’s country...heaven on earth! Coach Richt and his family are naturals for the Classic City...as much as a hot dog, rings, and a frosted orange at the Varsity! Welcome home Coach!
I always thought that he rushed into the Miami job and instead found a position within UGA that he could love.
For all of the Richt drama, I'm sure most people would support hiring him in some low stress, high visible position.
Beautiful home. Welcome home Coach.
Even though he was let go as UGA's head football coach, he is still a class act.
I believe you can add Vince Dooley and Ray Goff to that list. That must be some sort of record! Is Wallace Butts still alive?! Seriously, that does say something about the university and the town that every single head coach since 1964, or to put it another way, every living former coach, has a home in or around town.
Welcome home back in Athens Bulldog country coach Richt! Always appreciated your testimony and stand for Christ!
God bless and Go Dawgs!!
Welcome Home Coach Richt !! Glad to have you back !!
