Hey folks - as a member of the DawgNation community, please remember to abide by simple rules of civil engagement with other members:
- Please no inappropriate usernames (remember that there may be youngsters in the room)
- Personal attacks on other community members are unacceptable, practice the good manners your mama taught you when engaging with fellow Dawg fans
- Use common sense and respect personal differences in the community: sexual and other inappropriate language or imagery, political rants and belittling the opinions of others will get your posts deleted and result in warnings and/ or banning from the forum
- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

UGA's pursuit of dominant pass rush should be one of spring's biggest storylines
Two years ago, Georgia coach Kirby Smart introduced the notion of "Havoc Rate" into the program's lexicon. It was a phrase that might've been new to many fans back in 2019, but it was a concept that had existed among analytically-minded football folks for quite some time. At the time, Smart even went so far as to say

How you do shut down a high scoring offense, just ask the Tampa Bay Bucs. The Kansas City Chiefs QB was harassed all game long in the Super Bowl by the Bucs defensive front. If the Dawgs could follow that blueprint all season, on to a Championship they would go,
Create havoc on defense! UGA's mandate. Take pressure off young d-backs. Turn JT loose on offense and tommielee is right....nattyville looms large. This could be the year.
Let's coach up Smith and Anderson to lead the way in our Havoc Rate that turn into turnovers and TDs. Nothing discourages a team more than a turnover, because everyone who follows football knows that the team that turns the ball over the most usually loses. We've got things in place now to win the National Title. Let's do it! GO DAWGS!!!
Agree 150% Brandon and have been saying all of this for many weeks now! Pollack is correct.
Just look at what our 'elite' secondary did against Florida and Bama! Egads. We got pretty well carved up by the opposing QBs - even with such a great secondary. We never got much effective pressure on either QB. Look at how the Bucs defeated the high powered and high scoring offense of the Chiefs in the Super Bowl. Defensive havoc and consistent pressure!! That's how the Bucs won the game.
We couldn't effect CIncy's passing attack until later in the game. I think twice this past season freshman QB's had good games against us. We gave up the 5 year pass with regularity. But if the QB is in the shot gun and decides to take what the defense gives him, it's hard to stop. Not sure what the pass defense was rated nationally but with 2 probable 2nd round picks in the draft at DB this year you would think it would have been a little better.
