Arkansas struck for six runs in the second inning and pulled away from Georgia for an 11-2 victory in the second round of the SEC Baseball Tournament at the Hoover Met on Wednesday.

    You will occasionally play a team with better talent, but you can still catch, throw, and make contact, protect the plate, know your strike zone, all that "fundamental" stuff. Love the Dawgs - always - but this performance was not up to the standard. Not my standard - the one they set for themselves. Losing is one thing. Leaving the bat on your shoulder, overswinging, or freezing in the field is something else.

    Too tough? Does that mean UGA just can't be as good as a school in the middle of an Arkansas wasteland? Duh.

    What's the excuse this time, coach? You had pitchers hurt? You scored TWO RUNS. That's not on your pitchers.

    Sorry folks, but I'd like to see some fundamental baseball. Then you take your lumps. But getting psyched and intimidated? That's not UGA baseball (or football, track, tennis, gymnastics, swimming, equestrian, or ping pong in the student center).

    These are terrific players. So.... what does that tell you?
