My wife and I moved a couple of weeks ago and the DawgNation podcasts have been in the earbuds to get me through all the long hours of the moving process — thank you for that!!

While unpacking boxes I found an old box of old dvds and we decided to watch the 2009 movie, The Blindside, one evening after putting the kids to bed. Not sure if you’ve seen it, but by the end of the movie, the main character is being recruited by all the major SEC schools. Ed Orgeron at Ole Miss, Nick Saban at LSU, Lou Holtz at Carolina, Houston Nutt at Arkansas and the big bad Phillip Fulmer at Tennessee.

I laughed out loud at the idea of Tennessee being the bully recruiter of the bunch and UGA barely having an honorable mention in the movie.

(Sorry for the super long comment)

But this made me think of what you’ve said many times, that recruits can barely even remember former powerhouse programs such as Tennessee because it’s been so long since they’ve been truly on top.

Do you believe that coaching hires alone are what got the Vols to where they are now or do you think there are some ways to ‘future proof’ a program to an extent, to where that level of irrelevancy doesn’t occur in the next 12 years?
