Georgia football winners and losers from pivotal June month
June was an incredibly busy month when it comes to the Georgia football program

Nice synopsis Connor.
As I have said before, I am not a big fan of the transfer portal. BUT, I think the entire recruiting and elite player landscape has changed when you look at the transfer portal + immediate eligibility to play + NIL rules. Recruiting and the annual transfer competition for elite players, playing time as it relates to promoting your NIL, and getting a player's best "deal", has just made things a lot more complex and tougher. I think this will force more use of the transfer portal whether Kirby wants to or not. And unfortunately, I think because of this the best days of Smart's recruiting may be behind him. We'll still probably stay in the recruiting Top 10, but the consecutive years of being #1 or #2 may be gone. I hope that I'm wrong.
When it comes to a 12-team playoff, recruiting AND retaining top talent deep into the season will be critical for winning a NC. Talent depth will be key as more games wear on players.
I've never spent much time thinking about roster limits with scholarships per say, but thinking off the cuff, it would seem like coaches now, at least at the big time schools, will have to leave more wiggle room for transfers. Have to play the wait and see game.
Transfer portals I supposed were mainly for those who desired more on-field presence...NFL stature...maybe a culture change. You know...that "feel." To me, a sentimentalist, the TP is also slowly removing true allegiance and commitment to team and school. It seems coaches won't be able to prepare a pre-game roster until near game day. (facetious). I am old school. You dance with the one you chose...with exceptions, of course. NIL now plays into the elitist fray. The mullet is in....huh Tate? Barstool thinks so. Will this distract? We will see, won't we. By the way, I am not against players profiting from their status and hard work. It should be part of the game. Is college football evolving or just becoming even more of a business venture? Back in my day....ahum...we had little idea what a portal was....much less mulleting for money. The teams were more pure,. I knew several players personally. There was no question..you committed to UGA, you played four years at UGA. Today...a team is generally in a state of flux, comprised of many SEC (et al) school competitors..you get what I am saying. Anyway, it is what it is. De-commits and portal transfers have become the norm. Now the 12-team playoffs loom large...inclusion...everybody's a winner. Never a dull moment in college football. I guess that is what keeps us coming back for more..... GO DAWGS!!!
Couldn't agree more. Players are now free agents. Nothing wrong with that but it does taint the days of 4 years allegiance to one school. Culture change for sure.
I can see Jimbo telling Big Bear Alexander, "You are from Texas. People in Texas love you already. With that thought in mind, where do you think you stand to earn the most on your image or likeness - Georgia, or Texas?
It is a most compelling argument.
