The beginning of this article states that all 14 SEC presidents are expected to vote “yes”. Does this mean that Missouri and Texas A&M are no longer opposed? Go Dawgs!!!
How angry will the football world be if they don't expand the playoffs and the sec has 3/4 of the playoff spots? It is essentially a foregone conclusion we will have 2/4 every year moving forward, the new question will be if we get 3.
@BubbaBill They were never opposed. The money was too much to turn down. They kicked and stomped for a few days to appease their fanbases. It has been unveiled and fast-tracked so the court of public opinion can't re-adjust over time. They didn't want a Twitter or reddit army to rise up on the internet to oppose expansion.
@BubbaBill, I can tell you with utmost certainty, having worked with and around Texas A&M leaders, students and alumni for several years, that they most definitely opposed this move. The still do, despite the money (A&M has PLENTY of money). They oppose it because the primary reason they left the Big 12 Conference was because of the idea (shared by Nebraska and, to a lesser extent, Colorado) that Texas controlled everything and every school. The former A&M President said as much back in 2012 when asked why the school reached out to the SEC in the first place. Moreover, despite its size and money, A&M is still viewed by many as UT's "little brother." Getting into the SEC got them out from under that shadow and made them a big deal in their own right. Behind the initial star power of Johnny Manziel and then with the hiring of Jimbo Fisher and their strong season last year, the Aggies were on the come-up. Now, with UT coming into the SEC, it puts A&M right back where they were 10 years ago -- behind Texas. So they didn't like and they still won't like it because this will make it MUCH harder for them to recruit top Texas kids and keep that SEC spotlight focused solely on them. But they're (probably) going to vote yes because they don't want to get on Stankey's bad side -- remember, they're still interlopers in the SEC so they need to go along to get along. Mizzou is always going to toe the line because they KNOW they're in the SEC by the hair of their chinny-chin-chin. They won't do anything to rock that boat. Go Dawgs!
Gonna keep saying it. When THE SEC schedule is revamped, I hope Kirby recovers the home game the Dawgs loaned Auburn.
