Coach Cochran, now Arik Gilbert. Why don't they just tell us what the issue is so there will be no speculation and crazy rumors being spread around. I certainly wish Arik Gilbert the very best and hope he can play soon.

    GO DAWGS!

I hope it is a short term absence. The dreaded "dealing with personal issues" is not a good sign.

So, he is eligible but dealing with some sort of issue? Or is this something that might impact his eligibility? I would guess the former, but I would like to be sure.

At first I wondered if it was eligibility. But with the quote from Smart mentioning Courson and "thoughts and prayers," it really doesn't sound like that's what it is.

Honest question…. the article says his absence “is not football related”. In what way WOULD his absence be football-related? In other words, what are some of the football-related reasons he would not be with the team?

Smoking weed is not football-related. Maybe failed a drug test?

Wishing the kid the best. It sounds like it could be mental health issues. I'm sure they'll get him the best help available.

Just a few weeks ago we were being told that he was doing well with his studies, his conditioning and his drills. So what's happening? It used to be politely be referred to as "home sick". Now, If it's psychological, it's medical and it stays private. We may never know. I hope that whatever is going on in this young kid's mind can be smoothed and soothed, and he can get along with his life. Georgia is now his third SEC school. Where's he gonna go next?

All of this sounds like a repeat of what happened at LSU.
