Georgia coach Kirby Smart is not in any hurry to issue an injury report to Clemson with the season-opening game less than two weeks away.

The hush hush nature of Kirby's injury update is pretty typical of head coaches and their desire to keep everyone guessing until the final lineup is announced on game day. News is generally vague and sometimes overly optimistic (unless it's a major injury). I can't blame him.
On another note, it sounds like the NCAA is looking at expanding the number of players that a team can sign in order to replace folks on teams that lose players to the transfer portal...all while still keeping the total number of scholarship players at 85. Makes sense.
Yeah, everything Kirby says is calculated and tactical. Saying no more than he has to.
As far as expanding the number of players a team can sign, are they referring to raising the 125 active roster limit?
@Joe31...here's the article link:
Sounds like discussions are still ongoing with more later this week. As the article mentions, the transfer portal and NIL has changed the dynamics of recruiting AND retaining players. One statement that particularly stood out to me was this one:
"However, there is more movement in the sport than ever before because of a rule change that grants athletes the right to transfer once without penalty. The transfer surge combined with name, image and likeness is resulting in another disturbing trend: coaches steering their recruiting away from the high school level and toward the portal."
I think there are several ways you can look at using the portal or not...how it affects high school recruiting going forward has yet to really be seen. And there are hundreds of players still sitting in the transfer portal.
Thanks, I’m taking a look
Yeah raising the limit makes sense under these new circumstances. I don’t think it should be based on number of transfers going out, as long as the total # of scholarships is remaining the same.
Arian ran a 4.21 seconds 40 yd dash??? WOW!!! **** thats lightning fast speed!! Cant wait to see him stretching defenses and taking their tops off for the offense!!
GO DAWGS!!!!!
Absolutely! His first few steps off the block are incredibly fast. He will be a problem for dbs, especially after he gets some experience.
“Full tilt?” Yeah if half of our starters miss hurt, and we get boat raced out of Charlotte, Kirby will probably revise that description. This, being coy about injuries is for coaches who need an edge, not one who already has an edge. I just hope we get healthier somehow by game time.
Go Dawgs!
