"Darnell Washington then had foot surgery in August. While Kirby Smart remains optimistic the sophomore tight end could see the field, it is far from guaranteed."

Is CKS really "optimistic" that Washington will "see the field," or is this merely the writer speculating? I have seen or heard nothing to indicate that Washington could possibly play Saturday. Unless the writer simply means Kirby is optimistic that Washington will see the field THIS SEASON. Now that's likely a true sentiment.
