What an amazing performance by our Defense. Uiagalelei and the rest of the Clem Kadiddlehoppers looked throughly confused.

What a game. What a win. I suspected Clemson would come at UGA with a different "look." UGA should have known that? Monken is right....you gotta play with more than 10! Converting 3rd downs still a nemesis. The Tigers stunted our offense. UGA beat a very well coached team. UGA defense best in nation. 1-0...let's go!!!

One of the bright spots for me is that Monken now has plenty of time to scheme for the next stout defense that plays this kind of coverage against us. I am confident our offensive output will improve. Go Dawgs!

Fantastic game! The Dawgs ferocious defense wins the day! I didn't see this coming...Chris Smith deserves kudos along with the entire defensive front. 7 sacks on Clemson...they get only 2 yards rushing....are you kidding me??? Who'd a thunk?

BUT, “We have a long way to go to be explosive and get to where we need to be offensively. ” Not offering excuses in lacking receivers, but we've got work to do" says Smart.

Yep. I admit this was the first game and we still didn't have all the WR playmakers out there. So, I give Kirby a mulligan on that one. Daniels did a pretty good job managing the offense. He got rid of the ball quickly most times. But 95% of his passes were either behind the line or less than 10 yard tosses. He admitted he was a bit confused at times seeing the zone. Towards the end of the game, his one pass to a double or triple covered receiver in the end zone was a BAD decision. He was lucky that wasn't picked off.

So is the key for any opponent's defense going forward to play a zone on us?

The Dawgs had (10) penalties - WAY too many - and several of those were defensive holding calls that gave Clemson a first down and new life.

We've got plenty of time over the next several weeks (as we play inferior opponents) to get a few players back on the field, and the offense moving the ball VERTICALLY down the field.

Overall, a bizarre and unexpected kind of game but a GREAT outcome!

It's very clear our quarterback is all over figuring out what happened, and how, and why, to stymie our offense.

No doubt about it, Clemson, like our Dawgs, played a great defensive game. Their scheme was brilliant as was their execution.

We must remember that our offense did better against their defense than their offense did against our defense. Not by a lot, but better.

Of course, we need to fix or improve our offense so it can and does take advantage of the next really good defense which comes along and at least tries to copy what they see Clemson just did. We can be sure that J T Daniels and all the off field coaches understand the problems.

According to what I saw during the game it did not look like Daniels had in any respect his best game. Give Clemson credit for making him "look bad," but give him credit for owning his responsibility to improve. A lot. Fast.

It looked to me that one thing we might have done better and more often would have been to take advantage of our ability to pass to our running backs who'd left the backfield to go downfield a bit. On the botched Charlie Foxtrot end zone pass incompletion where we had two receivers all tangled up, Zeus had done just that. He was beyond the line of scrimmage by several yards, wide open, and in the same lane as the two receivers.

Right now our best pass catchers could be running backs. Hopefully, that will change and soon, but guys heal and return when they heal and return. In the meantime we have to play teams fully capable of beating us.

    Go, Dawgs!

Not gonna go into a detailed explanation as to why because collectively many of you have already made the case. But I’m very confident this Offense WILL get better. And as we get injured guys back it will get Much Better. Our D is absolutely lights out !! The exception being a very young and inexperienced Secondary. But they to Will get better. Special Teams is very solid they will get even better. I must give Clemson their due, their D was very powerful. And I believe their O is better than what they looked like, it’s just the Georgia D is phenomenal !! Not trying to be arrogant just reality. You don’t shut a team like Clemson down like that unless you have a phenomenal D !! As the Secondary gets more experienced and improves this D will be down right wicked !! Along with the wonderful Win this game will be of Big help when coaches and players start evaluating the film to identify and correct errors. Stay focused Dawgs, keep your eyes on the prize !! The sky is the limit for this Dawgs team !! Go Dawgs !!

Apparently there is no end in sight to excuses about why we're not a very good program when it comes to offense. Kirby, Monken and JT all need to make honest self appraisals when it comes to their roles in putting a top offense on the field. If any of those 3 are remotely pleased with how our passing game performed last night we might never get it right.

I know the Dawgs had to punt a lot, but it was almost like Jake Carmada, the punter, was a weapon. He continually put Clemson in bad starting field position. Nobody ever gives the punter any credit, but here's to you, Jake.
