I don't always agree with Mike but in this case, why are folks attacking him? Kirby Smart himself has said that our running attack is underperforming and MUST get better for us to go where we want to go. The fact that they keep tinkering with the lineup (and not just because of Ratledge) is an indication that things are not right. It's not just the fact that we're trying to pass the ball more, it's that WHEN we run the ball, we have difficulty. With the talent and size of our linemen, you would expect that our RB's could consistently go 3-4 yards past the line of scrimmage without being touched. And again, folks, don't just think of the two games this year. Go back and look at our running game in 2018, 19, and 20. Even under Sam Pittman, it just hasn't been spectacular of late. When we had Chubb, Michel and Swift, one of those guys ROUTINELY had 100-yard games. Now, we think 75 yards is a great day.
First of all who is Mike Griffin? Secondly, he can’t win for losing with some of you. If he’s not hard enough, he’s a homer. If he’s too hard, he doesn’t know what he’s talking about. Now I am hardly an expert, but I have seen a ton of reporters, site facilitators, recruiting “experts”, etc…and Mike GriffiTH is one of the best.
Maybe Kirby is just too nice and informative when it comes to the media. As we fans all know, it's all about Kirby playing his favorite players and handing playing time to certain guys to keep them from going in to the portal. Now, his game planning is destroying Mark Richt's reputation, along with Nick Chubb and Sony Michel. My God....we need a total rebuild!
You don't lose in 2 games, something that took years of great RB's to build. Gone are the days of a RB carrying the ball 25-35 times a game. Doesn't mean after 2 games that status as RBU should even be addressed as being in jeopardy.. Ridiculous! So,.. Say Alabama loses 2 games this season, does that mean the Alabama dynasty is in danger also? There would be No difference in the 2, according to this logic.
The HEADLINE doesn't cover years, only 2 games. I totally agree with your assessment of the running game over the past few seasons. It has declined noticeably. But to say RBU status is in jeopardy after 2 games is absurd. DAWGS run too much, open up the offense and pass more..now they don't run enough, go figure. Seems the running game was good enough to put the game away against Clemson when it was needed. And Clemson, supposedly has 1 of the best defenses in the country, according to the "experts".
brvhrt I think I made a pretty compelling case for Mike Griffin not really knowing what he's talking about. Unless he does it strictly for the hits and reactions. I presented a number of FACTS that are Football 101. If you don't see it I suggest you repeat Football 101 because obviously it didn't take the 1st time. OL play is a process that takes more than 2 games of musical chairs w/linemen, Qb's and WR's. To suggest anything else is a lazy take. Be a homer or be a poser, I am calling it as I see it. When Mike Griffin starts acting like a real journalist I will start using his real name. Try to keep up bruh.
UGA #1 in rushing in the SEC in 2018
UGA ranked 5th in the SEC in rushing the past 2 seasons. Go RBU!!!
Off to a slow start this season.
Nothing to see here, everyone just move along.
Seriously! jeez but you **** at this job! report the news and quit trying to make the news.
Currently 11th in rushing in the SEC. That means either vandy or the Vols or the gamecocks are ahead of us. Where there’s smoke there is fire. Don’t kill the messenger here.
Your frustrated with the facts not the comments.
Big92 I gave you 5 or 6 reasons why the UGA running game has not been optimal in the 2(!) games played so far. That is 5 or 6 reasons Mike Griffin failed to mention in his click bait "article". If you don't see the connection between the cause and effect you just don't understand football very well. When Clemson runs the ACC table, Zamir White's 75 yds against a stacked run D behind a make shift OL will look pretty impressive.
Not with Clemson struggling to win against a pathetic Atlanta trade school team.. Now everyone will scream UGA beat Clemson in a down year. Let em holler until they're hoarse. After watching parts of 3 acc games today, I don't see any team from the acc deserving of a Playoff invite at this time. Wake Forest beat an even more pathetic team than tech in fsu, Miami was embarrassed by Michigan State, North Carolina will lose at least 1 more game, I'm starting to wonder if Clemson actually belongs in the top 20 rankings, much less top 10.
