Great game on Saturday. Stetson did exactly what he needed to do to protect the football and keep the offense moving. I was particularly excited when he pulled the ball from the RB on the read-option play and took off for a 30 yard gain! That is a play they have been running for a long time but rarely has the QB pulled the ball and run. How many times did Fromm have the back side wide open but chose to give the ball to the RB into the line? It drove me crazy sometimes. I don't think we will be seeing JT Daniels running that play given his injury history, but it is a great way to keep the defense honest.

Stet showed a lot of moxie running the ball and he has really elevated his play from last year. He took a couple of big shots, including the targeting call, but always bounced back up. As Kirby has said, the best ability is availability and Stet has answered the bell.

I still think JT is the superior QB, but he needs to get back in the lineup. I was watching the QB's warm up prior to the game and Bennett was firing his passes into the receivers while JT was lobbing them in, to not risking aggravating his injury I assume. Kirby said that he was ready to go if needed, but you could tell from warmups, he was not planning to play except in an emergency (that thankfully never came). That said, JT needs to get some live game reps before the bye week with the expectation he will probably start against FL. I wonder if Kirby is going to have a 2 series, 1 series substitution plan like he had in earlier games, this time with Stetson starting and JT coming in second.

Whatever happens, I believe the Kirby and Monken have earned our trust that they are going to do what they think is best for the team to win. Now, no slip-ups against Kentucky! I hope the new #1 ranking won't be rat poison for next Saturday's game between the hedges. It is going to be another raucous home crowd I am sure.

    BA,

To commemorate Florida's loss to LSU last year, I mocked up this design and had it put on a travel mug. I'm not sure that any Dawgs would want it, but it makes a great gag gift for that Gator or Swamp Tiger in your life. It also comes on regular mugs, stickers and magnets. Here's the link:
