Thank you Jeff Sentell & Dawg Nation for this Excellent article on a Fine young man !! I am Super glad he came to UGA !! Yes because he’s developed into such a tremendous player, and just like his running, he did it Fast !! But every single bit as important is because he’s an Excellent representative of Georgia football. And he has very clearly demonstrated the things a person can achieve in life when they set their mind and faith to Do It !! Y’all remember that one of if not The greatest Dawgs if all time, Herschel Walker came from a Class AA school !! In fact with my very faulty memory may have been just single A in those days. As I understand it Herschel did really well in the classroom as well. Kirby Smart really IS “The Man” !! Look how he treated not only Ladd and his family but pretty much the entire town of Chatsworth !! MAKING the time to pose for pics with all those folks and talking with them !! Kirby Still Shows that HE is an excellent representative of UGA !! And So glad that Kirby’s keen eye saw past Ladd’s size to what this young man Could be !! I’ve been a Ladd McConkey ( as many of you have) from the second I first read about his recruitment Right Here on Dawg Nation !! Thx Dawg Nation !! THEN when I saw him in the G Day game he confirmed in my mind right then I thought This kids gonna bd very good !! BUT I must confess I thought it would be in 2022 !! I didn’t think it would happen so fast !! Way to go Ladd !! Keep up the great work !! Way to go Kirby Smart keep up the great work !! Go Dawgs !! GATA !!
Thank you for this story!!
When UGA hoists that trophy in January, we’ll reflect on just how special this team is!!
Terry Hoage was always one of my favorite Dawgs…Ladd has reminded me of him from the first time I saw him. Smart player and hard worker!
I can guess what Coach Dooley thinks of Ladd!
Go Dawgs!!!
Cool story. I'm glad McConkey's having such a great season. I'm also glad that UGA has Kirby Smart as it's Head Coach.
Otherwise, McConkey wouldn't have been recognized and he wouldn't be helping UGA win games.
I felt bad for that poor DB that Ladd used and abused in that clip from The Opening. Then, to find out it was a zero star vs. five star Kelee Ringo. That ain’t chopped liver! Glad they are both on our team!
In Ladd we will Trust!
"When 5-star CB signee Kelee Ringo saw McConkey’s film reel on social media, he was quickly impressed by what would be his future teammate. The clip wasn’t against Ringo, but he still saw his vast potential off a few camp reps."
Thanks for straightening me out on that one.
Ladd wasn't going against Ringo in the clip. Ringo just shared it on social media.
I thought Ladd was in the 6’0” 180-185 range. There have been plenty of receivers who contributed at UGA in that size range if that is correct. Someone correct me if I wrong. Me thinks they were using his size as a crutch for what they were really thinking also about Ladd not playing at UGA., I thought Brock Bowers has at least two TD receptions. Again, I could be wrong. Go Dawgs!
A diamond in the rough. No Star-3 Star. Now one of the best receivers at UGA.
I must admit that him and Bowers are the receivers I have 100% confidence in catching the ball.
I don't have Ladd's e-mail (or that of his coach or mom), but here's something I think he might appreciate. When Steve Largent retired, he was the No. 1 receiver in the history of the NFL. Check out his story. Sound familiar?
Just betting somewhere up there, Vic McConkey has taken a lot of yellow out of his color palette with a resulting gorgeous RED as his favorite color!
He was listed at only around 5'10 or so and 160lbs soaking wet in high school. That was the listed weight. I think it was probably more like 5'9 at 150lbs soaking wet. That was the reason most power 5 schools never offered him. However, he's grown a few inches to 6'0, and have bulked up a little, to approximately 185lbs. As I've mentioned before, I was impressed by his speed and quickness, once I saw his highlight film, once he committed to GA. I had a feeling that he would one day shock a lot of people. I just didn't think it would be to this level. That kid is special, a hard worker and humble. I'm a big fan of his. Go Lad! Keep getting after it...
Excellent article. I very much enjoyed learning more about what is quickly becoming one of my favorite Dawgs. Keep up the good work, Ladd!
