This back is looking for NIL bucks....A&M has that covered. Their big donors are backing a reported $30 million NIL fund.
Our lowkey NIL approach will work with some kids who a very forward thinking and won't work with those kids and familes who are looking for more immediate rewards. I don't blame those who want to cash in now, the future earnings are not guaranteed. Just know that we'll lose some kids with our approach.
Will he be a "Hired Mercenary" for aTm, or do what's best for his long term career ? He sound like it might be about the $$$,we'll see...
He said the name, image and likeness trend is something that comes to mind. It is probably the most popular recruiting topic right now when it comes to Texas and Texas A&M in his home state.
As discussed earlier, he said that UGA did not focus its pitch around that.
When Jimbo went off on Saban, calling him a Clown-Act, it reminded me of Hugh Freeze when he said if you have evidence come forward. We know how that ended. Looks like Saban knew what he was talking about with T A&M and NIL. But it was also a pot calling the kettle black situation.
Just shows what a hypocrite Saban really is, considering he sent out an NIL pitch to every QB recruit with his, "Our QB is already making ungodly money and hasn't even played yet speech.
If he chooses Georgia, the NIL money will take care of itself... It's the real RBU for a reason.
Take the commitment of the 1st 2 of Owens, Haynes and Webb and be done with all the games. IF the 3rd wants to commit too? Okay. If not? Okay. Similar to the UGA taking the BVandagriff commitment and not doing the endless dance with Caleb Williams. It is not how good these guys are when they enter UGA it is how good they are when they leave UGA.
You don't want a kid that's going to base his decision on pre-signing NIL money. That's not the culture Smart is trying to create. Whether he realizes it or not, Owens needs UGA far more than UGA needs Owens. The last thing you want to do is build a house of cards program on a foundation of one-foot-out-the-door players, looking for the next big paycheck and opportunity. Either their bought-in or their not. By now, these kids know what UGA is all about.
I watched about 5 minutes of highlights on this kid. He had some of the best blocking I've seen at the high school level. #71 sustained blocks and pancaked a few DBs down field to create lanes for Owens to run in. Their whole team blocked well on the edge and down field. That's what UGA has to offer....outstanding blocking. If I was an RB interested in the NFL, team blocking capability would be high on my list of prerequisites. And McGee is a proven RB coach. No other team has that upside. As far as BAMA, Saban could leave anytime, so, that's a consideration, too. I'd say JF and A&M present the biggest challenge to UGA in recruiting, right now. But, they can only sign so-many players, that leaves plenty of talent to go around and UGA develops talented players better than most.
Signing a kid like Owen's or Manning isn't as critical as it once was. It'd be nice to have him, though. LOL But, only if he's on-board with the UGA program and is willing to fit in with the rest of the team.
This cat isn't coming to UGA. He's a good looking runner, has quick feet, decent speed, good vision and he catches the ball well it seems. I'd say his speed is on par with James Cook but has a little more wiggle to him. But as far as jaw dropping moments maybe I missed them.
He sounds like a Texas kid who will most likely stay home.
Starks is a dude they have to figure out how to get the ball in his hand. I know he will probably play safety, but the guy knows how to find the end zone, Punt returns and kick-offs I suppose.
